Mig-29 (9-13) Zvezda Russian Aggressor - work in progress

Album image #1
Model primed with Mr. FINISHING SURFACER 1500 BLACK. It has a very heavy smell, but it dries up very fast and the result looks good.

I had a lot of problems with the AMMO ONE SHOT PRIMER on my previous models so I decided to switch away from it.

Album image #2
Italeri dark ghost grey applied in the landing gear bays.

Album image #3
Humbrol Russian blue as the interior color.

Album image #4
I'm trying to decide on the best color for the second camouflage and the underbelly.

Album image #5
Having severe issues with my airbrush which has stopped painting even after I cleaned it four times. Still troubleshooting that so I can continue with my projects. Have ordered a replacement nozzle and needle which should arrive the next days, even if I'm not 100% yet where the problem is.

Album image #6
Applied Tamiya Medium Grey Color: XF-20 and worked smoothly with Aqueous Hobby Color Thinner at a pressure of about 1.8 PSI

Album image #7
Interior done, the kit comes with 8 decals for the interior.

Album image #8
Different angle of the interior.

Album image #9
The Zvezda Mig-29 kit is absolutely awesome!

Album image #10
First decals applied, many to go.

Album image #11
Weathered the engine section more intensely than other parts as the migs are particularly dirty in that area.

The decal scheme is amazing, I like the flag under the front landing gear.

Album image #12
It is slowly coming together - decals applied, gloss varnish, panel lines accentuated

Album image #13
Drilled the back of the AA missiles to give them a realistic look.

Album image #14
The Zvezda kit comes with a lot of decals, which I find to be of good quality. The armament is now ready to be placed.

Album image #15
I painted the model silver before attaching the clear gear-light parts, which are used during takeoff and landing at night. I also built the standing version, covering the engine intakes. The model is now resting after two coats of gloss varnish.

Album image #16
Painted also with silver the IR sensor position before adding the clear part to give it a more realistic look. Also opted to add the external fuel tanks under the wings as the Mig-29 has a very short combat radius in real life. I think the external fuel tanks look also great.

This Fulcrum looks great! Keep it coming! Did you find out what was the reason for the problem with your airbrush? Have you tried replacing the silicone seals in the nozzle? If they leak in even just a very small amount of air, everything goes wrong.

Good morning Thomas!

Thanks, I hope I will finish the Aggressor Mig-29 over the following days, it has a very nice decal design.

The airbrush problem was complicated, it was initially clogged (I'm blaming Humbrol acrylics for that, I always take good care of the airbrush and clean it after each spray) and while trying to clean the nozzle with a needle I enlarged the nozzle head bu mistake. I changed the nozzle and needle and the airbrush sprays beautifully now, decided on using Tamiya/MRP and Vallejo paints for the new projects.

To get to the root cause of the problem I still need to use the old needle in the new nozzle and the old nozzle with the nee needle, as a needle can be bended without easily noticing.
