Toyota 2000 GT WIP

The WIP steering wheel, I used oil paints to add some wood grain 

Same on the gear stick 

I'll be painting the main body with this blue color, it's Mr Color GX216 over grey primer 

 

 

 

The decals were pretty hard to work with on the dashboard, one of them broke and isn't aligned properly. I think if I did them again I would paint the dial border silvers and somehow cut off the silver border on the decal dials as they don't fit into the recessed areas. 

 

The matt here was done using VMS Matt Varnish, it's very good at giving a dead flat finish. 

I primed the body with Mr Primer Surfacer 1000, I had to do a lot of sanding at some seams and dust. I might have to add some more primer in some areas before painting the main coat.
 

I painted the body 

I clearcoated the car with 2K Clear. I used a 2:1:1 ratio of Lacquer, Hardener and Thinner with Number Five 2k Clear. This seems to work pretty well for not obscuring details too much while also being easier to spray. 

Some dust got into the clear coat, here is the biggest piece. I'll have to sand it out.
