Another Day at Farnborough - Revell Eurofighter 1/48 - WIP

The details on the seat look good. The cushions were sanded down for the Eduard PE kit.

the decal placement / layout is definitely efficient.
… at driving people insane trying to find the correct decal numbering. I can understand the need to economize the decal sheets, but this is insane….
+1 Demerit 

This stupidity carries over to the spruces themselves. Omitting the Latter of the sprue tree is a minor annoyance, but having the part numbers adopted all over the place makes part hunting a chore.

Although I chose to use Eduard PE parts for this kit, the cockpit details were actually pretty good!
+1 Merit 

Most a/48 scale kits usually have intake tubes running all the way to the engines - unless you are Revell or Italeri…. Some people would take up this challenge and fit in tubes to remedy this, my strategy is to paint the interior black, and then gradually darken the intake tube further back to blend it in. Unless someone shines a torch back there, nobody is going to see - I hope…
Oh yes, +1 Demerit 

The canard design was also designed poorly- rather than using a rubber cap like more manufacturers, they expect you to glue the canard to a plastic cap sitting flush against the fuselage - hoping the glue doesn’t seep into the joint and glue the canard stuck. The trick to this is to dab a small amount of glue on the cap, wait for a minute, and then stick it to the canard facing down so the glue wont\’t flow down to the joint.

With the cockpit completed, the fit for the fuselage was terrible. This is where tape, vice clamps and liberal amounts of bad words come in.
+2 Demerits 

Let’s just say the overall fit of the fuselage is not good. To top it off, the fuselage already came pre-damaged along one spine which will need some repairs…
+1 demerit 

Fortunately the tail came together nicely. That should be a gimme, so no credits. 

I am praying that the glue really holds this together after I remove the tape, or I’ll be in for some rude awakening when the kit flies apart!
