It took awhile to build the model. A lot of things didn't fit at all.

Yesterday on the news they showed the n-korean versian of a scud . Some outer details were different though, so I imagine it concerns a later version of the iraqi one.

I love soviet era military equipment for its 'professional ugliness' 🙂
Terrific paint job. How does 'filtering' work? Lighter filters from the top and darker towards the bottom? Or for color variation?

For me filtering works as one of the ways to tone down and to wear off the cleanliness of the first base coats. The filters I use are mainly divideable into two as follows:
- a pale color version of the basecoat, mixed with sand and grey and white ( this gives a worn off effect of the paint being bleached by the sun and daylight)
- a sand and raw umber filter to add a dusty and used look to the model)
As you mentioned, it is important to define where the filters are applied. Example: dust is mainly foud on the top side of a vehicle, while darker rust, sand and earth colors should be applied on lower areas of a vehicle.

Thanks! Should work with airplanes as well with whites, greys and maybe smoke.
I'll give it a try on one of my 'hack' models, as Augie would call them 🙂

Looks great Peter. I picked one up at a swap n sell not long ago for only $30aud pretty cheap compared to the new Trumpeter model that costs around $180aud. O.K. so the Trumpeter kit has many more internal detail parts but the old Dragon kit still looks pretty good when painted up well. 🙂

Quite a bargain you did there, Glenn, with only $30AUD.
But of course, as you said, the Dragon kit is getting outdated with the new Trumpeter kit that has arrived. Meng also seems to have a kit in the making but .... no news about the final release.
Watch out, though, with the assembly of the Dragon kit. I experienced some annoying misfits and distorted frames and elements. All of them were corrected in the end, but it did not go without some serious cursing and there were a few moments that I had to get out of the room for a while to prevent me from throwing the whole thing to the wall 🙂.
But in spite of these assembly issues, I'm pretty pleased about the final result. I also bougth the new Trumpeter version (actually 2 of them - don't laugh), just to see how this will assemble and how much more detailing is in the kit, also because I would like to make a Russian (green) version of the scud-B.
So another addition to the ever growing stash of boxes.
My wife is not pleased (but I am).

Peter you have the same problem i have, If you like a subject you keep adding more variants of the same thing! I just added two more 1/72 C-130 Hercules to my stash. O.K. So i also got them cheap too! but i keep adding more than i was ever going to have! Thanks for the warning about Scud transporter! But i know each Dragon kit comes with "bonus" instruction errors, very basic decals and or missing sprues or just plain poor fitting parts all part of the insanity they provide! 🙂
