Geneseo NY Airshow 2013
Talk about a polished aluminum surface! How many gallons of Alclad Chrome?
I love the old North American Aviation logo.
The P-40 shows up every year - this plane is immaculate.
I believe Walt Disney Company designed this logo.
Flight line.
Another annual performer, the Skyboss Corsair.
Personally, I don't think they have the right shade of blue on this bird. But it looks way cool anyway.
Zero replica.
Parachute drop. This C-47 actually participated in paratrooper drops on D-Day.
First time I've seen an Avenger other than a museum. Sweet! Notice the troops dropping in.
A beautiful Mk.IV Hurricane from Canada.
It's stablemate is a fantastic LF Mk.XVIe Spitfire!
WOOT!
Gotta love the Garmin GPS unit mounted to the gunsight!
Another immaculate P-51D. These planes weren't in this condition when they were new.
I like the OD that's been added since the last time I saw this plane.
The star of the show - one of only two flying Avro Lancasters!
The infamous white exhaust staining.
The bomb bay looks green due to reflections from the grass underneath.
No framework on the turret. Good, I didn't want to mask my model anyway!
Framework on the rear turret though!
Mitchells!
I had never seen a solid nose B-25 before.
These markings are more interesting!
The devil (Helena) on the starboard side.
What is the "outhouse" kill marking for?
An angel (Angela) on the port side. Georgie's Gal must have a split personality!
The A-26 restoration is coming along nicely.
I hope they paint it black!
A couple of Stearmans.
A gaggle of Texans and Harvards! Love the sound!
You always have to look closely at the artwork!
The other Stearman - I knew there was two of them!
C-46 Commando! I always liked these better than the C-47.
Sukhoi stunt plane - wow!
Quick Silver in flight.
Father and son Pitts Specials.
Quick Silver again - photo out of sequence.
Getting ready for flight.
C-47 begins its taxi run.
I love this show because you can get so close to the aircraft.
Although getting hit with a prop wash full of hay is no fun!
Spitfire heads for home. I missed the morning flight display.
Making the turn onto the airstrip.
Tailwheel up!
Clearing the trees is always a good idea!
Beautiful plane, isn't it?
Perfect two-point landing.
The Corsair winds up - ready for takeoff.
Gear retracting.
Love that paintjob. Who makes these decals in 1:72?
Blue skies to the east.
Storms coming from the west.
I was surprised how short the Avenger's takeoff run was. But it is a carrier plane...
P-40 is in the air.
About to launch the Zero.
And a nice Val replica too.
Beech C-45, overshadowed by the more famous fighters and bombers.
The Lancaster begins its taxi run.
Ready for takeoff!
Tailwheel up.
Heading for home (Hamilton, Ontario Canada).
Georgie's Gal treats us to a flyby.
The Avenger flies by the radio mast.
The Lancaster says goodbye as she turns towards Canada.
The C-46 banks right towards us. I like this shot.

Album info
Every year the 1941 Historic Aircraft Group puts on a warbird show just south of Rochester, NY. The setting is their grass airstrip nestled in the one of the valleys of the surrounding farmland. The bucolic setting and the mighty warbirds makes you think you're in the Jolly Olde England during the war. You just need some rain and fog! Luckily, we had none of that this year, in fact it was 96 deg F the day I was there. I missed the morning displays due to a localised disruption in the space-time continuum (i.e. I was late)! Enjoy the photos!
