The M1151 has been recently introduced to Mexican armed forces to replace the hundreds of humvees acquired in the 80s and 90s. Interestingly, the ongoing war on drugs pushed the Navy to acquire some armored M1151 for the Mexican Marine Corps to better counter the high-power ammo that drug cartels use.
I started with the 1:35 Academy's M1151. It is a nice and well detailed kit but the Mexican Navy's (MN) version is somewhat downgraded from the kit's depiction. So, I started by placing whatever is in and left out whatever I can't see in my references. Obviously communications packs and antennas should be different as they should be set on Mexico's standards. I also noticed that some handles and attachments points are missing from MN's version. Also, de GPK turret in MN's M1151s has no windows or view points and although some units have M2 HMGs most have M240 MGs. A big bumper needs to be added as the kit does not provides one. Interiors are a challenge as no pictures from the cabin were available to me, but the
