Mustang III Progress
Cockpit finished with some Eduard PE. I didn't use all of it as I prefer painting some of the stuff. I also added the wires on the radio equipment. I used 0.4 mm aluminium wire for that.
basic green color is Tamiya XF-71 Cockpit green.
Only the main instrument panel is Eduard PE, the rest of the instruments of the PE kit looked to flat, so I painted the kit parts instead.
I drilled the holes in the exhausts with a 0.6 mm drill.
Also the machine guns were drilled with a 0.6 mm drill.
Eduard PE in the wheel wells.
Eduard PE on the landing gear. Break lines will be added later on.
0.4 mm drilled hole in the antennae.
0.4 mm aluminium wire glued in with super glue (CA glue).
Antennae in place.
Riveting finished.
All the small parts painted, including the propeller.
I used Mr.Color Super Metallic SM01 for the bright metal parts and Mr.Color H76 on the exhaust pipes. The rest are Tamiya colors: XF-1, XF-7, XF-85, except for the yellow which is Mr.Color H329.
Pre-shading done.
First camo color, Tamiya XF-82.
Masking for the second color.
Camo finished! 🙂 Green color is Tamiya XF-81.
Color for the under side is Tamiya XF-80.
Clear coat on and all the small parts are finished.
Assembled the landing gear and added the break lines.
All decals on and another clear coat. Awaiting weathering.
Mustang III is finished! 🙂
I took a razor saw to the canopy and split it so I can open it and look inside. The kit came with an option to build it with an open canopy, but I like to be able to close it to prevent dust to get in.
Compared to another sharkmouth. 😉
Two mustangs. 😉

I've started the sharkmouthed Mustang III of the 112 squadron. I'm thinking of making this the first of many sharkmouthed planes from 112 squadron.

I've added some Eduard PE to the wheel wells and the landing gear, and then I decided to do the antennae wire. Just drill a 0.4 mm hole in the antennae and then glue some aluminium wire to it, simple!😉

Thank you Clifford! 🙂
I've now finished the riveting and the painting of all the small parts. Next will be masking and painting the camoflage.

Good work, great temptation to roll rivet on the wing but, on the P-51 wing Gruntovalos and polished and riveting should not be visible

Thank you Alexander! 👍 I didn't know that, so I learned something new today 🙂. Well, it's done already, so I will take it as a learning experience for the next one.

Thank you Kees! 🙂
The sharkmouthed Mustang III is finished. This kit was really nice to build. not alot of putty and sanding. I made a few mistakes along the way, as usual, but I'm pretty happy with the end result. 🙂
