but when checking with the glass parts it becomes another story... the angle is completely off. Need to think hoh to cope with this...

Bottom hull needed a lot of TLC too

some progress, glued the main parts and sanded the hull... Need to check the result with paint. To make it more easy I've removed some details to attach them again afterwards. Still a bit in doubt of what to do with the nosepart. Thinking about removing some material to the sides only to make a recess for the canopy...

ad picture 12: obviously the resin part represents the nose of a later Whiskey with the new NTS implemented from 1994 on. That makes the nose slightly bulkier and required a shortening of the glass cockpit. The left lower edge of the glasspart should fit, but the angle of the canopy glass is more obtuse. You can see that difference looking at different photos in the web.
BTW: I just saw that this all is stated in the details of the decalset provided here at scalemates. Even the required shortening of the cockpit glass. Only the pictures for the painting references seem to depict the earlier nose as in the original kit. As I am on the ah-1 family, I guess I have to get that decal-set & nose too 😉

Thx for that info. Mhh, didn't notice these cutting remarks, but thanks for explaining. Definitely a more recent boxing of this version is needed, along with the AH-1Z...

The DreamModel Zulu is a great kit! Highly recommended! Purchased two of them and am about to sacrifice one for a kit-bash with the Italeri/Revell/Tamiya to a late Whiskey as the Olimp Resin conversion kit is not available anymore.
But thanks for pointing the nose issue out - I just ordered the (last) decal set with the NTS nose from ArmyCast 😉 - unfortunatelly the interior set is sold out...
