Andy, I was a big fan of the original Mosquito and learned recently about the existence it's german copy. I plan to get a model of it next year to put them side side on the shelf.
For the balck primer, I used a Can of Krylon black camouflage. I like it because it's cheap & extra mat.

It's also fast to dry. This time tough it stayed sticky a bit longer than usual. Maybe I didn't shake the can enough.
