Recently Exito Decals published another interesting decal set. You can build many Bf 109Gs of Northern Front aces but much less early Emils. Also I like the bears head emblem even though it is not for the faint hearted. I decided to buy Tamiyas well bread Bf 109E-4/7 kit and as I could not find a proper zoom set for sale I chose Eduards Löök set for their own kit which could be easily adapted.
I started this in early August and used it as a side project for my Spitfires. So there is not much progress but this weekend I could finally finish the cockpit. This is rather basic compared to todays standards but it builds well and with a little help from the aftermarket can look interesting nonetheless. The good thing is that Tamiya kits are a joy to build 🙂
I had also completed most of the wing so I could mate both wings and fuselage. As you might guess fit is perfect here and the tape is just to keep the alignment during the drying process (the nose cooler is not yet installed so there is a little bit of play)

I have completed the airframe and after some painting and masking sessions the model looks like this. Of course the tail wheel broke off so I had to use some brass tube to re-enforce this ... hope this was enough.

As the time frame is 1942 I used RLM 74/75/76 (as per Exito instructions)

Thank you Sergej and Jos, much appreciated.
@Jos: actually this is a side project that I am on and off when I loose motivation on my Spitfire I builds.

Thank you James and Roland,
when attaching the decals I noticed that I put the "side line" of the upper camo to high. So I had to stop decalling and rework this area. Just finished it and it came out quite well...
P.S. the photo was taken in my light box under artificial lighting, which gives more contrast to the top camo colours and a shift towards blue ... it is not RLM02/RLM71 but RLM74/RLM75

I finished applying the decals yesterday and after a clear coat started today with a sludge wash with water colours...

Slowly getting there. After wiping the excess wash off the wheels and u/c covers were attached. also the Antenna mast. I sanded a flat spot to the wheels to give the model a better stance

I have added some more small parts and gave the whole thing a Gunze flat coat ("super smooth flat"😢. The I added some exhaust stains (which are not fully dry in the pictures, but will stay slightly semi gloss). Still some steps to go, but it is taking shape.

I demasked the clear parts and mounted the head armour with two braces from thin copper wire. Also antenna wire (UvdR Rigging thread fine), Master 20mm guns and position lights (painted silver and clear green/red/orange) were added. I still need to glue in the MG 17 barrels ... should have done that earlier.
