Finally....And no weathering. May add some dust later.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/8/0/4/1005804-46988-81-720.jpg)
Alignment on engines, struts, nacelles, eveything on this kit a chore.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/8/0/1/1005801-46988-85-720.jpg)
She WAS a pretty plane
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/8/0/5/1005805-46988-95-720.jpg)
Opening the door was not easy kit panel lines are for rounded top Hudson style door - I added a handle and hinges at the last minute with.020 guage music wire
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/8/0/2/1005802-46988-70-720.jpg)
I think the engines came out so-so, added some details to the props
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/8/0/6/1005806-46988-81-720.jpg)
THAT gear assembly, and THOSE Nacelles will make you a want to bin this whole thing from time to time, but patience rewarded. Much of the gear assembly is also steel wire. Stronger but very time consuming.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/8/0/3/1005803-46988-82-720.jpg)
Stumbled upon afresh stock of Tamiya Rubber Black for the deicer boots. Tough color to find here in the Colonies.

Weird- put gear in very early

Big subs coming along. Sand, sand. sand.
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/1/5/1/958151-46988-58-720.jpg)
LOTS of filler needed on both nacelles
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/0/2/0/974020-46988-11-pristine.jpg)
Skinny wing meets FAT wing root.
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/0/1/7/974017-46988-25-720.jpg)
Skinny wings.....watch out for FAT Wing roots at fuselage...
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/1/5/2/958152-46988-99-pristine.jpg)
Almost got'em round.... Just a bit more
![Album image #23 Album image #23](/albums/img/0/1/9/974019-46988-66-pristine.jpg)
The fix? Make the wing thicker. Carefully. Darn near split them both open!
![Album image #24 Album image #24](/albums/img/0/2/2/974022-46988-13-pristine.jpg)
Cockpit glazing needs shimming at top, fit to nose is very good. Just waiting on my KV Mask set all the way from Kiev now! The internet IS good for some cool stuff, yes?
![Album image #25 Album image #25](/albums/img/0/2/1/974021-46988-96-pristine.jpg)
Now it's workable.... Both wings epoxied on, fit is not awful now.
![Album image #26 Album image #26](/albums/img/7/9/4/981794-46988-18-pristine.jpg)
KV Masks - very nice, bought two sets, one for interior.
![Album image #27 Album image #27](/albums/img/7/9/5/981795-46988-96-720.jpg)
Glazing on, slight gap to fill. Looks like I let some sanding dust get inside! gotta get the vacuum out.....
![Album image #28 Album image #28](/albums/img/7/9/6/981796-46988-77-720.jpg)
Kit included PE trailing edge on, challenging to get straight - go slow!
![Album image #29 Album image #29](/albums/img/7/9/7/981797-46988-16-720.jpg)
PE fit is good, got a bit of super glue to clean up. Exhaust ducting on engine nacelles is not a good fit, requires slow work and tape. Kit has no exhaust pipes to speak of, will add some brass tube shortly.
![Album image #30 Album image #30](/albums/img/4/6/1/986461-46988-43-720.jpg)
Sanded entire airframe to 4000. (yikes) Masked, wiped down, finally ready for primer
![Album image #31 Album image #31](/albums/img/4/6/2/986462-46988-99-pristine.jpg)
THOSE nacelles.......lots time, lots of filler and sanding. The cowlings are good, but the engines require sanding to get them to sit evenly inside the cowlings.
![Album image #32 Album image #32](/albums/img/4/6/3/986463-46988-98-720.jpg)
Hardest parts to blend. As you can see, I just went ahead and cut the landing gear off before I broke them off while sanding. They will get metal reinforcing rods inserted when reassembled.
![Album image #33 Album image #33](/albums/img/4/6/4/986464-46988-85-720.jpg)
And yay! Finally time to do some painting!
![Album image #34 Album image #34](/albums/img/7/5/5/1000755-46988-61-720.jpg)
Drilling out props and domes for aluminum shaft...props needed a lot of clean up.
![Album image #35 Album image #35](/albums/img/7/5/6/1000756-46988-95-720.jpg)
Dome and shaft on, time to add some lost detail back, most notably lost were the badly misaligned blade collars.
![Album image #36 Album image #36](/albums/img/7/5/7/1000757-46988-33-720.jpg)
Blade collars are wraps of 1mm Tamiya tape, sealed, rod stock added.
![Album image #37 Album image #37](/albums/img/7/5/8/1000758-46988-83-pristine.jpg)
Belly antenna farm. Inexact locations shown in instructions, went by a few blurry old photos of in-service aircraft. All were drilled with a.080 bit to accept rigging later....
![Album image #38 Album image #38](/albums/img/7/5/9/1000759-46988-61-720.jpg)
Getting there, time for decal prep coat.
![Album image #39 Album image #39](/albums/img/7/6/0/1000760-46988-58-720.jpg)
Masking deicer boots.
![Album image #40 Album image #40](/albums/img/7/6/1/1000761-46988-22-pristine.jpg)
