PLAN Type 056 Jiangdao Class Corvette
bow section had a huge gap which had to be eliminated with putty.
modelling the seascape
30 mm close defence gun
exhaust compartment completely out of PE-parts exept the muffler pipes
decoy launcher and lifebuoys with their etched racks
2 x 2 yingji-83 (translated “Eagle Strike”) ship to ship subsonic seaskimming cruise missile launchers; the rockets have a reported maximum range of up to 150 km
HHQ-10 close in AA-missile system for up to 9 km range. I also finished the complete rear superstructures together with the railings as there will be enough space to brushpaint the deck surfaces later by hand.
I was able to fix my error with the rotorblade holders. Not perfect but good for me
I primed the whole ship with ALCLAD enamel grey primer and after one day drying time painted the ship´s side walls with Vallejo 70.907 Pale Grey blue and the horizontal decks with Vallejo 70.867 Dark blue grey which both fit perfectly for PLAN ship colors
first test dryfit with the unfinished sea diorama. There is a huge gap between the frontal bridge windows and the lower hull but this will be fixed later with liquid putty and a slab of paint.
The first impression of the ship at its base
finished to paint the tiny ship´s helicopter with the same color as the ship - Vallejo 70.907 pale grey blue
looks good at the ships helicopter deck 🙂
5Star have an etched template for painting the helicopter deck markings
Some small retouches have to be made but all in all I am satisfied with the result
Funnel compartment top painted in black and fixed at the ship´s superstructure
The decal for the gun turret marking applied and sealed and gun turret itself glued on
Bridge windows made with KRISTAL KLEAR and the big open joint betwenn the upper and lower part of the bridge component sealed with color. I am satisfied with it 🙂
Ship and its seabase finally finished
the foam effect was made with cotton soaked in HUMBROL acrylic gloss clear
the bowwaves were made with thin KRISTAL CLEAR diluted with Vallejo 70.898 dark sea blue. It was thinly brushed onto baking paper and removed and bended as a wave after it dried overnight
The nice small etched plate was within 5Stars super upgrade set. I spraypainted it with Tamiya black and sanded it down to remove the black color exept for the letters
At last there was just to seal everything inside a neat diorama box. This box was, as always, bought from SORA

Nice work with all of that photoetch 👍 Will keep and eye on this, as I have a 1/700 PLAN frigate sitting in my stash 😉

Indeed! Very nice build with all this finely detailed PE and resin parts. ?
One silly question though: Areen't the rotor blades misaligned by 45 degrees to the rotor head in picture 19???

Ingmar I think you are right... already thrown away the instruction booklet - I am sure they told me to do the way it is shown but I think you are totally right. The instructions from 5Stars are very tricky (parts ommissions, part numbers not clearly assigned in the fret and now also wrong arrangement of parts 🙁. I am not sure if I still can fix that error with the superglued rotor parts

Album info
This is a new growing class of Corvettes which were build from 2013 on and are in active service within PLAN´s north, east and south sea fleets. All ships of this class are named after bigger chinese cities. I will depict ship number 55 "Baize", a city from Guangxi province. This specific ship is serving within the south sea fleet and is patrolling the Diaoyu (aka Senkaku aka Spratley) islands.
