HMS Sheffield, May 1982

Adding the helicopter deck to the stern created steps which aren't there on real ships. Thin plasticard was used to blend it in.

The included PE parts are extremely thin and soft and replacing the mast details with PE parts would have been impossible. Even more so, as rigging goes through them and they would bend immediately. So I've decided to replace them with Albion Alloys Precision Metals brass tubes cut and sanded to shape.

Hull and decks have been painted and slightly weathered (more to come). Decalling is now in progress. As you might already see, some of the decals are waaaay too big - the T-line at the heliportis very evident.

Surface details are really nice on the superstructures and dark grey wash really makes them pop out. More details will be added soon.

With added superstructure she finally looks like a proper ship.

@Jv, yeah felt like that. Especially the red-white-red markings on the tips of tail rotor 😄
