The Red Sea Sharks (Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk)
![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/1/3/4/1127134-26441-87-720.jpg)
This box just sorta fell out of my stash.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/1/5/2/1123152-26441-71-720.jpg)
The sprues are surprisingly clean!
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/1/5/3/1123153-26441-97-720.jpg)
Not a ton of interior detail, but with that thick canopy, who can tell?
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/1/5/4/1123154-26441-76-720.jpg)
Interior paint Tamiya XF-71 Cockpit Green. The seams don't look too bad.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/1/5/5/1123155-26441-98-720.jpg)
Just a bit of sanding. Might've done a better job but, it passes the test this time.
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/9/9/5/1123995-26441-99-720.jpg)
Canopy glued in place, main float ready to go.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/6/8/4/1126684-26441-58-720.jpg)
Underside painted Tamiya XF-19 Sky Grey and then masked.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/1/3/5/1127135-26441-60-720.jpg)
Topside painted Tamiya XF-8 Flat Blue.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/0/2/2/1128022-26441-37-720.jpg)
Float attached, base sorted with some silicon "water". Just some small bits to add on now.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/4/8/4/1128484-26441-24-720.jpg)
The decals gave me some trouble along the fuselage side, but oh well. We're done.

This one just sorta fell off my shelf and hit me in the head on the way down... Not a ton of effort, but enjoyable and straightforward. I usually have a build like this after a bit of an absence from the modelling bench. Helps get me focused.

I do love floatplanes! Most of the seam sanding has been done, and I've got the canopy on. Masking is next.

This one seems to be going along smoothly… I must be doing something wrong. 😉

Yeah. This one was a breeze. I had to go into the spares box for some decals because the first couple disintegrated on me. All in all a fun little project.

Fantastic quickbuild, Greg! Looks cool! (and now I feel tempted to buy this kit... 😉 )

Very nice build, Greg. But what is that horrendous tool in the front?

Thanks guys. The Smer kit was actually pretty easy to build. I didn't have high expectations, and I didn't try to overdo it, but it came together quite easily.
That « horrendous tool in the front » are the handle side view of my sprue clippers. They were there to hold the nose down while the glue set. I drilled the hole a bit too large and it was wobbling around a bit too much on the brass rod that attaches it to the base.
Heh… Roland… what can I say… buying model kits and building model kits are two different hobbies! 😉

Lovely. And dat colour, is it Tamiya X-4 I used on my Jetstream? Looks similar.

It's Tamiya XF-8 Flat Blue. It's pretty close to X-4, but just a shade lighter I think.

The Daimler is already built! (The Red Sea Sharks (Khmedi Daimler) | Album by strobez (1:72)) and the Mosquito is already in the stash, waiting for a rainy day. 😉
