Razor Crest
Roland has already done the sprue shots so here’s a few dry fit close ups.
Primed with a Tamiya Lt Grey rattle can.
First pass.
Took some liberties with the interior but followed Roland’s suggestion of the Tamiya blue.
Cockpit almost done. Absolutely soaked the decals on the console and they’ve really taken the recesses well imo. Not using the kit Mando as a pilot as I want to try a 3D print. Also doing the kit landed not flying.
A couple of interior shots before we button up.
Eye level view to get a feel for realism effect. Reasonably happy. A few decals to do the pressing on.
I’ve added a bit of kit (old parachute pack from an ICM figure) in the netting in the bunk room. It’ll disappear though when I close up. So got a bit carried away. At least I’ll know it’s there. 🙂
Had some issues with the cannons used Alclad directly onto a black gloss spray that hadn’t cured and some reaction meant I had to start again. Found the moulding very soft so had to be careful sanding back to go again.
A couple of touch ups needed on the piston but gone with heavy weathering on the landing gear and covers.
Ramps kept separate for now. Had to re do the main ramp. Couldn’t get the pinky/red right so oversprayed with rubber black- you can see a hint of red in the recesses. Need to show some wear on the redo.
Used Ak primer and micro filler and then gloss black rattle can over the top.
Kept the nozzles pretty raw. Used Alclad Aluminium and dry brushed an iron colour. Then Tamiya powder for the burnt bronze and blue hues.
First coat Alclad Aluminium applied. First time using it on this size. Reasonably happy so far.
Needs second coat I think.
Second Alclad Aluminium. Will do a couple of panels in duralinium and then use a satin gloss I think.
Some slight panel shading using Alclad Duraluminium with a few drops of Tamiya X-33 Bronze. Not sure if it added anything tone wise-it might be there if you squint.
Some final touch ups to do then a gloss coat to come and weathering this week.
Decals on and some weathering although it’s hard to see and some tidying up still needed.
Canopy inserts are really clear but not great fitting in all cases. If you squint through the main window you can see Grogu’s little lever with the ball top.
Feet and ramps down…

Looks pretty good so far. To be able to see the bunk room later, I simply left out the "door" in the side wall. I mean, I didn't even glue in the plastic part. Fortunately, I had seen in time that otherwise this bunk room would be completely closed.

Thanks all good to have you along. Chris good shout, but too late as I've buttoned up. Photo evidence only 🙂 I'm a bit further along but struggling with the engine seams despite careful alignment I'm still having to work hard on the seams. Hopefully photos this week.

Hi Robbie. I think yes it is a toilet of some description. Not sure it featured in the series though, I can't remember. Anyone?

Thanks Roland,Guy, Neil. I've slowed down a bit but have had to add a second Alclad Aluminium coat as in the daylight there was quite a bit of the black base showing through in patches. My airbrush skills being what they are 😄

Thanks Roland and WhiteGlint. @Roland it's the finishing that kills me. When I take a perfectly adequate build to the point and see it deteriorate with weathering final touches and I'm never satisfied and lose heart. We'll see it through together. 👍

Thanks everyone. I'm trying to carve out the time to sit it on a dio with a 3D printed Mando and Grogu. So much to learn so little time 😄

Awesome! A kit I'd love to get my hands on and try out if I can find one when I have the disposable income (and when the wife won't notice an extra kit😂) Great job on this one. Looks great!
