Neuspinne
I got some inspiration when I heard there are spider excavators. This Neuspinne will be on a recon mission on Alps.
Back of the box
Checking the size and needed area. Parts are hold with blue tack.
Drilling holes for new axles. The kit could be built as it is, but there are 0.5mm steel rods in the kit in case open legs are preferred. I just also want that the joints are movable.
My attempt to organize and specify the legs.
First leg cut and sawn down.
0.5mm holes drilled into the parts.
Drilling is very challenging.
First leg completed.
My new saw is narrow enough for this.
Glued a strip of styrene on the main body to fix one detail.
Styrene cut and sanded off.
More legs coming up.
I printed the postures of the legs derived from my 3D-model made with SketchUp.
All joints locked with epoxy glue.
Main body constructed.
Right manipulator hand mostly constructed.
Left arm gun ready for painting or I should consider adding more details.
Head is constructed.
I wanted to add that little brass plate to highlight that hatch.
First Mr.Surfacer 1000 and then Vallejo's black primer.
The stand is coming up.
I decided that my diorama needs an alpine ibex so I got a goat in 1/72 scale. The bigger horns are made of green stuff.
I'm trying to make an improvised camo with brown and green triangles.
Such bad luck. I cleaned the parts and the first primer was mr.surfacer, but still one mask tape teared paint.
Two sheets of 6mm depron foam (used for rc planes) glued on the stand with PU-glue.
Neuspinne's parts are painted and few parts got clear varnish and decals.
I wanted to add that QR-code decal included in the kit, but it is quite big for this and a bit silly... It is a working code that reads "Neuspinne".
I had to test my carving abilities to see if I could make a believable mountain cliff. The ibex got primed and some brown.
I finally dared to start carving.
Mountain cliff mostly carved. Some stone/sand paste added after this.
Legs glued to the frame while positioned on the stand.
The stand is almost finished. My first time adding any loose grass and bushes.
I want to call ibex ready.
Weathering still ongoing.
The weathering is done and so is the matt varnish applied too. Just final assembly and the model is soon ready. Maybe tomorrow.
Neuspinne is now finished! Here a "mood picture".
There is nothing back of the stand.
Curved QR-code might be impossible to read...
With black background like my other Ma.K models.

S MNeuspinne's parts are painted (mostly hopefully), but I can not proceed until I carve a mountain cliff on the stand.

JDWhat color scheme do you have in mind for this stealth recon mech? Maybe it blends in with the terrain like a spider or a chameleon so it's hard to spot..

S M@JD well actually it is already painted grayish green with few brown and green triangles and blue bands as markings. While choosing the camo I considered something similar that armored vehicles of Swiss Armed Forces uses, but they were not cool enough so I ended up with this. Currently it seems maybe too dark, but it could be lightened or I should paint the terrain as dark.

S MThanks, mates and welcome aboard, Simontie! I was depended on Army Painter's "Battlefields Basing Set" so the grass is maybe too big for the scale.

S MIt should read NEUSPINNE無人強行偵察機. I just once read it, but my phone could not focus on so tiny code so I first took picture of it with my camera, zoomed in and then read it XD.
