The cockpit parts look like in the film, but would not be functional. See the joystick has no room to move.

Album image #5
I will replace the ugly gun barrels with injection needles.

Album image #6
Album image #7
It seems that the axle could be left in place and the unique propeller could be added afterwards. Nothing is glued here!

Album image #8
Everything ready in the other fuselage half.

Album image #9
Halfs jointed. The radiator required painting on this early stage.

Album image #10
annoying gaps between cockpit pod and fuselage.

Album image #11
Gaps are first filled with thin styrene sheet

Album image #12
Lots of Mr.Surfacer 500

Album image #13
Then thinner and a swab

Album image #14
I figured too late, that this model needs nose weight. So I drilled a hole to the bottom of the fuselage and dropped tungsten beads with PVA glue inside...

Album image #15
And so the PVA glue invaded the cockpit 🙁

Album image #16
Wings are in place!

Album image #17
Maybe I cut the canopy poorly from the sprue because some nasty lines appeared.

Album image #18
Canopy in place and masked.

Album image #19
Black and white primer added.

Album image #20
Fast check with tape showed an area where primer was badly stick.

Album image #21
Yellow parts first this time

Album image #22
First I tried to solve the Honneamise number system by checking the countdown timer in the movie, but later I found a picture from a movie art exhibition, where the numbers and letters were defined. It was revealed that Honneamise number system is base-13, so number 32 is expressed as 26. The letters are like Japanese hiragana consisting of a consonant and a vowel. Literally these symbols should read "Geto26".

Album image #23
Lots of cutting masks.

Album image #24
Continuing this backwardish order of painting with red.

Album image #25
Unfortunately it's not Uru in Blue 😉 Problem was the yellow and red colors that blue could not cover, so I had to hide them with white primer.

Album image #26
Some masks off. Looks nicely colorful.

Album image #27
Landing gear bay interior improvised.

Album image #28
painting of other missing parts ongoing.

Album image #29
Album image #30
Propeller spinner chipped with salt

Album image #31
Random spare red stencils with unreadable text

Album image #32
I got lazy so I didn't put stencils everywhere.

Album image #33
Landing gears and doors in place.

Album image #34
masks are off

Did you create the masks for the markings yourself?
Very good progress. It's a nice blue shade.

Thx, WG! Yes I cut the masks myself like shown in photos 22 and 23. I printed the right sized letters on a normal paper, put transparent office tape on top of it and then the wide yellow masking tape. Luckyly I could see the letters through the tape.

Soooo cool! Fantastic work, S M. (Looks a bit like one of Luigi Colani's designs, e.g.: scalemates.com/kits/..c-309-racer--1070919 )
