1998 Tamiya Raybrig Honda NSX

Local Marketplace find and purchase for $40. This kit was 100% complete in the box. However, it had been stored in a wet basement for over 20 years. The decals looked good at time of purchase but I soon discovered they were un-salvageable. I ordered new Decals directly from Tamiya USA and it couldn't have gone smoother. They only charged me around 8 bucks for both decal sheets with shipping and they arrived in three days. I'm currently waiting on Bridgestone Potenza tire decals that are coming from France...

This has been a very challenging build so far. I ordered the Tamiya blue violet rattle can and after painting noticed it was the "PS" not the "TS". I felt like a total dufus. Ordered the correct TS, decanted it, and sprayed over the PS with my airbrush. The decals were next and very challenging with placement and covering compound shapes and bends. I used Micro Sol solution and it saved the day!

Currently letting 4 coats of Mr. Color GX11 gloss cure and then onto wet sand and polish. I'll be finishing the interior and chassis while the body is curing.

I loved this build! It had me chasing decals and blue violet paint around the internet. The kit was vintage 1998 and had been stored in basement. Decals were shot but Tamiya USA came through with a new set. The A-pillars had been crushed a little and I didn’t mess with them too much out of caution. I fabricated seatbelts and rear hatch pins.
