I like airplanes, big boats and some armored vehicles. Favorite aircraft are Fw 190s, late-war spitfires and basically any U.S. naval aircraft. I'll build almost anything in 1/350 scale, new and old.
I've been building models since I was five or six, starting with Revell's Snaptite kits. Some of my first glue-together kits were the Revell USS Missouri, Arizona and Enterprise (CVN-65). I decided the Enterprise could use a black hull and a yellow upper hull. I'm pretty sure the flight deck was painted Testors gold, with a few green streaks thrown in somewhere for good measure. The Arizona and Missouri were painted as close to proper as I could manage with the basic Testors paint I had (so... not very well!)
Since then, I've learned how to use such advanced techniques as airbrushing and pin washes (though I'm still learning with both). I've decided to start a model-making renaissance in my house, and have been building a lot more kits now than I ever have before. Yes, this has hurt my wallet a lot, but that's okay since winter is coming.
Professionally, I'm a journalist. Currently out of work temporarily due to health reasons but looking forward to getting back to it.
