Y-Wing Starfighter

So I started on the cockpit, pilot, Astromech unit, and the main fuselage now, I got he front piece except the interior mainly finished, waiting for the pilot to dry so I can continue painting it, and trying to decide whether I should use the older or newer astromech droid. I already sis some weathering on the front piece, the light grey plastic just does not look the part, these Y wings were old and beat up, so it has to be weathered pretty heavily I think.

This is about done, this is not even the most recent picture, the whole middle section is a medium grey now, I will be adding two shades of brown in a wash on the fuselage, then I will be putting some light grey back over it on the outermost parts to give it some shading, the pilot is also finished, this one turned out much better than the pilot on the B wing, skin tones seem to be very hard to get to look right.

The weathering looks great. I have an X-Wing on the bench and after seeing this, I think I will do the same. Is the grey wash branded or your own mix?

it is revell 77, i put some paint on it, like crazily fast over a section, let it dry for just a couple of minutes, then wiped off most of it with a q tip dipped in thinner

This is actually where I am at now. The medium gray in the middle will not stay that way. I plan on doing a couple of light washes of brown and red brown first, Then on the details sticking out will go a lighter grey to match the front. I have to paint the head of the droid but the pilot is done. This pilot was much easier than the B wing pilot cause hes wearing a helmet, I have a lot of problem trying to so these small faces, not to mention Im not all that good a figures anyways. I plan on graying up the front a little more with some battle damage and such as well.

and its finished, ordered some new brushes which I needed to paint the droid. Think it looks pretty good, now I need a snowspeeder and an A wing, and maybe a Tie Interceptor, even though I have the old MPC one to build still.
