How to build 1:72 Skyray with the Nonstick satellite launcher rocket. All available kits where at 1:48 but my chosen scale is 1:72. I scaled down the 1:48 decals from New Ware to 1:72 with scanning & computer graphic cleanup. NOTE TO ALL:New Ware uses the tail number 0745, but all the photos I see of the Nonstick satellite launcher are with aircraft 0747. I looked up & found pictures of Skyray 0745 and its a different aircraft with orange paint & a long pitot tube on the nose. I think of all the modelers that used 0745 and its the wrong number. Use the Tamiya kit for the base model as its details are much better than the Airfix kit. I painted the Skyray with Mission Model Paints MMP-065. I found a very good 3D printed rocket on Shapeways that will work. Had to add some additional mounting stock to hang the rocket from the pylon. The Rocket almost scrapes its tail fins on the ground (so does the real rocket) so mount as high as you can. The white metal landing gear was nice from Scale Aircraft conversions but after I had attached them I found they bend VERY easy. I used my scaled down decals with some from the Tamiya kit also. The aircraft does have some very small "NO STEP" on the spine, but I was unable to find these in white so they didn't get added. Thats it for this build.
