I used the good wether today to work on the smaler parts for the Fallout diorama again. The most figures don't fit OOB, so are modified or combinations from different figures from the (up to now 4) figure sets.

Today I started assembling the next 3 figures, including one complete scratch build. I've never done that before, so I'm exited if it works at all.

I fixed the figures to corks and primed them with Revell 008 Black. Now I can see some small mistakes wich require some attention. The camera dosn't show that to well.

Hi Erik and Shar, welcome.
@Shar: At the moment I'm thinking about adding 2 more albums, one for infrastructure & buildings and one for the base witch would than include the entire project. For me, this makes the most sense, as I also proceed in the same way when building. The finished figures then go into the display case until I need them in the building or on vehicles, which are then back in the display case until the base is finished. As I use the albums here to keep an overview over the project I find everything faster.

In the last week I reworked the seams & the details (1 or 2 figures a day) primed it yesterday Black (Revell Emaile 08) and added some White (Revell 04) ftom above to help with shadows & light.

That SS camo pattern is not easy... I tried it many times and got close enough, but still... Not happy. I see you got it pretty right there. Did you follow a manual or is it photo-based. Anyway... Respect!
This was my best attempt: Waiting for the Russians - Berlin | Album by Templar1099 (1:35)

Thanks! I'm working photo based. Got some color pics of SS camo uniforms preserved in museums. I make my colors look faded by making them a bit lighter. That way the colors are not so much in your face if you know what I mean. What's really important is that the colors are exactly the right ones. Because the Germans used pretty particular colors.

Finished painting of the first camouflage smock. Rest of the figure obviously still has to be finished. Working on the 2nd camouflage smock now.

Hey Tom, out of curiosity may I ask why you find the layout of the stowage interesting? Is it because of the relatively empty engine deck or the blanket rolls on both sides of the vehicle?

I belive the interesting look for me comes down to a) the front mudguards still being attached, while the rear ones are missing b) the empty engine deck without a huge stack of stuff as it is often modelled onto those vehiles c) the tarp on the side which should be nicely dirty and thus an interesting surface for weathering-techniques 👍

Hey Tom, I can imagine you're saying this. It makes sense. I'm gonna attach the rear mudguards after I weathered the vehicle and place the wheels. Otherwise I can't place the back wheels. Maybe the engine deck will get some more stowage but I wasn't satisfied with the configurations I came up with so for the time being it stays quite empty. Also I usually add quite some stowage to my AFV's but this time I wanted something different. And the tarps will be come dirty where I hang them. I placed the stowage based in pictures of Greyhounds in WOII and mixed in a little bit of my own ideas.

Covered the side of the road with a layer of sand. The side of the road matches the look of a little bit rough country side, at least in my humble opinion. 🙂 After drying I fixated the sand with hair spray. So I can paint it more easily. Next step is to paint the whole base black before adding ground cover and other scenery material.

Thanks mates. 🙂
Wim: I wasn't impressed with the Gasoline range either and certainly not impressed with the prices. Mine cost probably 1/3 of what that kit cost and I enormously enjoyed the built – probably more so than any kit I've ever done.
Wilky: At least the Aussies had the sense to save one – I'm glad they did.

Holy s#*t Gorby. This is AmazIng! I am about halfway done reading the brexit thread and... the rivets, THE RIVETS!!! Very educational, and definitely very entertaining. Not surprised you left this boring lot for the "others"😉 😄. I am starting a scratchbuilding project myself, but it will be of kinder garden variety compared to your undertaking. Cheers 👍

Wow, impressive work Gorby. The build log on Brexit is awesome. I'm going to use that rivet idea for sure! Oh and I did get the Kryten reference. I saw an episode filmed!

Thanks very much mates!😉
The rivets were far from the most enjoyable part of the build but these early tanks would look naked without them. I'll look forward to your scratch-build Alec, no doubt it will be astounding.

Thank you for your nice words gorbygould, but I think they're a bit exaggerated. I've still a lot to learn with Mates here, including with you 🙂

Scott: I was well impressed with your build and I referred to your photos to help with mine, so thanks.
Bart: Yes that bugs me as well. I did put a load of lead inside the tank, but it isn't heavy enough to weigh it down sufficiently. I'm going with the experimental super extra heavy-duty barbed wire excuse.😉

My workroom needs to be stripped and rebuild before that can start though. 🙁

Thanks very much Frank, your praise has made my day! 🙂
Up until this, tanks were of little interest to me, but I thoroughly enjoyed this build, probably more than any model I've ever done. It kept my brain working right to the end. I'm not saying that there will be no more aircraft from me, but there will certainly be more AFV in my near future. 👍

I would have loved to add some figures Capt, but certainly at the time this was built there were no WWI British troops available in 1/48.

I did do a full build report...on another site, a site which has now unfortunately died. It was only yesterday I removed the dead link to the report - I don't know if that pushed this post to the top of the feed, I though that just happened when you added more photos.

Thanks Kesa. This was my first full scratch build - I only built it because there wasn't many WWI vehicles or tanks in 1/48 at the time. It sort of got me hooked on scratch building. 🙂

Well man good for you. I assume scrach building is pretty hard so you've definitely outdone yourself. And with all the small details i assume you've got a pretty steady hand for a man your age (no offence ofcourse)

It's easier that you think Kesa, although it probably best if you start with adding small bits on kits.
