Thank you Kate and Mathias. That gras diorama piece was from dennisminiaturesdesign.de/shop/diorama/ a german producer of 3d printed figures and some other stuff. I´ve bought it from Modellbau König in Germany. I am not sure if they still carry it. I was not overly impressed as I had to cut quite substantial parts of the corners because the grass was applied irregularly there and looked ugly. I got a discount for that by the dealer and kept it for a while didn´t knew what to do with it until I decided for this diorama.. For this small scenario it did fit perfectly 😊

The grass certainly looks great after you finished with it, and those figures are stunning!

I got the Mod 11 Block 1B version of this kit because I found it on sale for a good price. What I didn't know (until I started building it) is that this kit is basically RPG's MK -15 Phalanx CIWS kit plus the different parts needed to build the Mod 11 Block 1B version. I wasn't paying close enough attention to the instructions when I started building, and ended up assembling the tracking radar enclosure using a panel for the standard MK-15, and I didn't catch the error until after the glue had set. While trying to figure out what to do, I discovered that this kit had all the parts to build the standard version, so I downloaded the instructions from Scalemates, and happily continued building the standard MK-15 . . . until I got to the barrel assembly. I had to drill out the barrel support blocks with much larger drills than indicated in the instructions, and then when I test fit the barrel assembly to the gun mechanism, I discovered that the barrels were about 7 or 8 mm too short. The Mod 11 Block 1B uses a shorter barrel. I eventually solved the problem by affixing a piece of brass tube to the gun mechanism to lengthen the socket that accepts the end of the barrel assembly. Once painted and assembled, the fix shouldn't be too obvious.

Hey Villiers/Christoph - hope you enjoy the build and thanks for watching the progress. Thinking about a custom paint job on the second spitfire with reference to the album power slave of which Aces High is from. Have some home print decal sheets that I have been meaning to use for years so might try testing them out. Revell have been kind enough to send a second Eddie Sprue so will have him seated in both planes when completed.

Ok, riveting is time-consuming but also relaxing. I gave the wing a wash to check the result. Looking good so far. I just hope that it will be still visible after paint job

With the engine outlets and canopy frames done, painting comes to an end. Especially the latter was very tedious in terms of masking. But I am satisfied with the result 😃

Very nice. Amazing detail on the cockpit, looks impressive.
I have 2 old Ar 234 in progress, but the cockpits, or should I say lack of, that came with the kit just don't compare. I did a bit of scratch building, but just so something could be seen.
Question - what size wire did you use for the cockpit?

Very beautiful model! I really like it, especially the riveting and the cockpit. Did you treat the cockpit windows in any way, or are they straight out of the box? That would surprise me with Revell, to be honest 😉

The canopy had some scratches, so I sanded and polished it a bit.
@William: it is copper wire, but I do not know the size. I will measure it and get back to you.

Yes, certain similarities in the camouflage pattern cannot be denied. 🙂 It wasn't really the intention, it was supposed to be a mix of larger and smaller patches. But I still like it now. 🙂

Many thanks to you both! I'm really pleased that you like the paintwork! The project has already taken a lot of time so far. At first I thought it would be a quick job, but in the end the sanding, re-engraving and the countless thin layers of paint have taken a lot of time. Probably also because I watch series on the side 🙂
@HSC1932: I now only use Vallejo colours, mostly the Model Air colours if available. I also thin them a lot now: 4:2:3 (Flow Improver : Thinner : Paint). For the two main colours I used Vallejo MA 71.257 Light Blue RLM76 and MA 71.259 Grey Violet RLM75.

Hi Mr D. Haha they are painted on. I tried to use as less decals as possible except somethings like the Japanese "No Step" which is too complicated for me XD. The Antenna is 0.05 mm copper wire.

Hi Weizenbrot.
Yes, l thought that was what was happening? But wanted to confirm..... good idea...more realistic as aluminium wraps to the structure.... especially on the Japanese craft.
Thanks......" Always good to learn"😃👍👍

Thank you Mr D! I truly agree with you that the the effect is suitable for Japanese aircrafts. I was thinking of giving the observers a feeling of the thin skin is really attached on spars and ribs.
