This Corsair was completely the creation of the industrious and resourceful Marines of Service Squadron Eleven (SS-11). Born from the salvaged parts of wrecked Corsairs, she carried no guns, arresting hook, catapult hooks or ammunition pans. Historical photos also show her without antennas, implying that she initially had no radio equipment. Painted overall in G Aluminium (FS17178) with black markings. Later in 1944 the machine was camouflage in deep sea blue and was marked with the numbers 894 to represent a fictitious Bureau Number and was thereafter flown on reconnaissance flights.
I will attempt to recreate her in a stage she most probably would have looked like right after or only few days after completion. No progress pictures I'm afraid as I'm way to far in the building process.

Finally managed to take some photos of the finished Sally. As mentioned before, certain elements are not present (antennas, arrestor hook) as this plane was build from scrap parts. Also, since there are only b/w photos as far as I know, I am not too sure about the markings. I've used the ones that came with the kit but I'm sure they are not the most accurate - but a joy to work with! There are also quite a few stencils on the decal sheet that I did not apply since I believe the guys who built her would not have bothered to add these as well. At least not initially.
