The walls wil be made by glueing Noma Parkett green tiles to 3,6mm multiplex wood board curved to the right radius. The platform, road and base from thicker multiplex. The green panels will be engraved to represent a rustic pattern of masonry. Thanks for the attention, I wil try to make it worthwile.

The woodwork is adding up to a ponderous construction. The tension in some building elements dictates the use of sturdy material, like 10mm multiplex and steel corner elements. Like that I can bend the wood slightly.

I will hide some functionality in the diorama. The Flak will rotate slowly on a timepiece hidden in the arch and the searchlight will be lighted by a LED, amongst other light sources that can be fed by a battery pack hidden in the base. The album shows where the vehicles could be placed; maybe the searchlight can be put at the bottom of the stairs.

Oh and what happens if you put that chameleon in front of a model tank, does it adjust to the camouflage??

Haha, thanks for the suggestion, but if a wave a tank in front of him, he would probably snap off the barrel. He's got quite sharp teeth and drew blood from more than one uncareful person... Hector can change a bit of color, from dark green to bright yellow stripes.

That's not necessary, it has already a convincing texture by itself, because of tiny bubbles under the surface. Now I'll do some sanding.

Thanks en bedankt, I was too late to integrate LEDs in the front lights of the Protze, which would be a nasty job anyway because of the tubing under it. Instead I put a LED in the stone ceiling. There isn't one on the real dam, but there will be a generator running near for the searchlight so an auxiliary power line shouldn't be a problem, I guess. Now I built a crane from Precision Models to show how they got the Flak up there. Some accessories had to be filled with Milliput, and with the remainders I sculpted a duck.

I hope to be able to show it to you at BSMC even this year, Chris. I understood the criticism because for ordinary brickwork with fine seams you'd probably need a denser plastic. For these boulders though, it's ideally suited.

Now already plans are made for another diorama, containing at least one Churchill AVRE with SBG bridge, hinting at the minimum dimension and height. But I don't expect that to happen earlier than next year. I have some smaller projects, like an Eduard-upgraded Dingo 2 and a 1/72 Kiowa chopper with a resin cockpit to survive the winter.

Well, there is one guy who's busy throwing a bag off the truck, so he's just steadying himself with his right hand while continuing to swing the bag with his left. One other guy is neatly lifting the bag two-handed. The other two will surely have their load touching the stair treads, making the weight bearable. The proportion might be just a bit off, but I can't risk moving an entire arm on two painted figures. The bodies lean to the side of the carrying arm, so if they sling the bag over their other shoulder, they would not look natural.

You have bought me so much enjoyment watching your work take shape. Just wonderful mate. (( 🙂 ))
What gets me Steven, is the fact that you have taken this fraction of a moment in time, and bought it all to life again. I wonder what the ghosts of the men depicted here have to say about it all, because it is obviously based on a factual situation mate. You have bought me so much enjoyment watching your work take shape. Just wonderful mate. (( 🙂 ))

I might be haunted by the guy that had to toss sandbags upstairs to the death! And I'm already gathering ideas about the next large diorama.

Yeah well, thx. Steve...
I'm asking because these ones here have auch nicely detailed caps. The ones in the Tamiya-Set only have a knob there.

Thanks, it's indeed the Tamiya no.186 I used. The jerrycans have nice detail and the drum halves fit reasonably. All of the drums look battered.

Thanks, Marko. My opinion is that all the elements of a diorama should be made as interesting as they could be, you should not rely on the quality of the vehicle or the figurines only.

OK, OK, What is it in image 193. ? I'm thinking something like a buoy (marine application0 :-/) there is too much detail to comprehend and I am always amazed at something else that pops into view each time I take a walk around the structure. I love it !! 🙂

If you look at [img1], you'll understand where this item comes from. I scratched it because I found the resin too expensive.

I sure will, Kerry. I'll spend at least 100 euro's prize money that I won in a quiz at IPMS Netherlands. That has to be spent at modeling stuff, a condition I don't mind at all.

Thanks, Al. I added some chains and a rope, scratched a winch and piled some sand near the truck.

Some neat ideas there in the little details and mods I am sure many of us will "borrow"...I especially like the block and tackle/jib set ups, and little tooly things lying around....

Thanks. The last update has just been added. I fixed a bug in the system via a hole in the sidewall. This was covered up with one of the reference pictures. I fixed the crane to the ridge with another chain and threw some more sand. It was of no avail for BSMC 2014, jury and salesmen passed by but I saw many a visitor try out the lights and taking pictures.

Thanks for the nice comments. It still sits in my showcase near my PC. Some of the birds have come loose but it still looks alive.
