I agree with you Bart, many parts of the NFH are bad molded. I use putty everywhere to fill molding defects.
The first part of the kit has been release by korean and the nfh part by portuguese.🙂

Razor sharp work so far and a very nice and subtle weathering on the interior parts.

Hi Ronan,
at first, I was following all your previous Chopper builts, and your actual NFH 90 project is impressive as all your works.
Your work inspired me as well and as this chopper is one of my very close "wish to built models" I`ve some questions about your actual french version.
The Sonar Flash of the Revell kit, is it the version used in french NFH 90 heliicopter? Because there is an another well known type of Sonar Flash in use! I believe this type is from nation to nation different?!
How do you fold the main rotor blades? With or without the typical yellow or red arresting equipment seen on some actual fregate pictures?
I`ve found only orange colored french test torpedos on pictures of the Caiman. Wich of that two proposed colourshemes of the Revell instruction do you think is usefull for the french torpedo?
Many many Thx in advance
Dirk

Hi Dirk, thanks for congrats 🙂.
Yes the sonar used in the kit is the French one (THALES). The designer of the kit is one of mine. For Italy and Netherlands it is quite different.
To fold the rotor i have to remake the system of articulation blade by blade. The rotor of the kit is the TTH one.
I don't know if i will do the yellow arresting equipment because it is not very nice. I'll see that when the model will be finished.
If you want to make a " good for war " torpedoe : the body has different tones of metal and the head is black, a red-brown ring and a yellow one.
If you want to make a training torpedoe : the same with only a blue ring.
If you want to make an inert torpedoe : overall orange ( mock up color for all weapons).
If you give me your email i'll show you pictures.

Great build so far! Do you know which colours you'll use for the camo sceme? I have a french Caiman "on hold" and I tried to get informations about the exterior colours but I wasn't succesfull. Is it RAL? Are there any pictures of the Thales sonar whinch on the internet anywhere?

@Ronan:
Many thx for your aid! Great stuff! I will send you a PM with my email adress!
@Burkhard. Wow! That`s an amazing task. I believe there are no items of modern helicopters hidden enough, not to be discovered of your camera lens! 🙂
Many thx too!

@Burkhard: Great! I only have pictures of an Italian NFH and I was confused when I compared the sonar from revell with my pictures.

@ice :
i will use the Gunze colours H308 and H337 for the camouflage scheme. It is a good match for the 1/72 scale. I can ask a friend the exact references RAL in you need it.

Question:
The two round subjects out of plastcard besides the rectangular opening on pic 24 , what is it? I know two picture show them, and they looks like two round hatches?

Merci beaucoup Dirk !
The two round subjects are fuel tanks drains. You can see the same system below super-puma family helicopter too.

I'm going to build the NH90 TTH and want to do a decent/detailed job. Could you give me some advice?

Hi Twombie, thanks.
If you want to build a good TTH you have to buy the NFH and the TTH cause in the TTH kit, the airframe is wrong but the other parts are right. And in the NFH , the airframe is good for all NH90 but the other parts are for NFH only 🙂 that's what i did for my TTH (you can see in my albums)

Thanks for the advice Ronan. I guess I just got an airframe to test the scratch build engine intake grills and some other stuff until the NFH arrives 😄
