Time for the green! I don't pre- or post-shade panel lines. I go for more random mottling with the airbrush to simulate realistic wear. The exception - the fabric-covered flight control surfaces.
The kit's hinomaru decals were like leather, so I masked and sprayed my own. I don't have a real compass cutter so my masks were a little ragged. This is just after applying a panel line wash.

My first completed kit, ever! I started lots of kits for five years and never finished anything. A good friend gave me this kit and got me to do something outside my comfort zone - 1/72, IJN, and on floats. Since it wasn't a subject that I "cared" about, I found myself able to break the logjam and get it finished. It also was my first entry into an exhibition/contest and was extremely flattered to have it bring home hardware. Proud to have it on my shelf now!
