Australian War Memorial - A7V Mephisto
Comentarios
I concur with Frank.
If I remember the story correctly the "Tank Boys" were the ones who captured the tank.
The A7V was abandoned in the no mans land, they sneaked up to and managed to bring it back to their lines.
Or in short: Some Aussies stole a tank basically for shit and giggles.
Remember it vandalized outside Queensland Art Gallery. Only thing inside it was a wheel on a handle.
Thanks guys. Fabian D - if you click on awm.gov.au/blog/2016/11/23/mephisto/ it explains the Tank Boys and a few other inscriptions.
Album info
This is the only surviving A7V in the world and now resides in the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. It was captured from No Mans Land by Australians' 26th Infantry Battalion and brought home after the war. Housed for many years in Queensland, it was almost lost to major flooding of Brisbane in 2011.

Of note. Mephisto was originally a female but later converted to male configuration. Take a close look at the top of the main gun and you can see the pretty rough conversion. For anyone modelling Mephisto it is a simple conversion of the Meng and Tauro kits.
There is a decal set available for the vehicle at customhobbydecals.co..v-tank-506-mephisto/
I purchased a set a while back and they look pretty good. Haven't used them yet so can't comment on quality. Service from the seller is outstanding.
