Simple Wood Display Base

Water base Acrylic wood stain and soft pine base, These are 5 inch square

I use Acrlic water base wood stains. Less than 2.00 dollars US each at my local craft store

I first get my wood base, sanding block and stain. I like to us unfinished soft pine.

To start I sand the wood base with sanding block.

Many years ago I came across Verlinden's Printed Bases on cardborard. They printed out several types of bases. This is Steel Carrier Deck at 1:72 scale

For you Car guys I have used a house roof asphalt shingle

I needed to make some bases for a contest I was entering. I like to give some context to the models that I build, so I did a little demo on how I make simple wood bases.

Yes Patrick, the bases took less than a day to make and you can make as many as you like. The photo coping of the Verlinden's cards makes it a very simple way to make a base. I do think they also make them in 1:48 scale. I have not done any Snow, Dirt, sand or Mud but will add them whem I need them

I have added my SAS JEEP base to this album. This base is for Dirt and Sand. Just need to do some Snow and Mud.

I added two more bases a simple grass and a grass and sand base for my M-6 Bomb Truck and Follow Me Jeep. I like doing simple bases as it gives a little context to the project. I still need to do some Mud and Snow bases. I do have some ideas. I left out the finish base for the M-6 Bomb truck. will add soon.
