Thanks, all! Really enjoyed this, and not just because I'm a SW fan. Especially at this scale, the Falcon is a huge canvas for weathering. I'm still mulling adding a bit more. The actual model used for filming has more grime and streaking but fewer of the tricks we scale modelers use to make a miniature object look real, such as the shading and highlighting used to represent shadows and relief detail. That's partly because the prop model was 5 feet long and would always be lit in ways that showed the detail and made it look more real. What passes for reference pics are scenes from the movies, which means they are shot, lit, or filtered in ways that generally lessen the prominence of the weathering, aside from some closeups of the partial set of the ship when docked. So what I was going for was a level of weathering that conjured up the Falcon as my eye remembers it from the movies in this smaller scale but on closer inspection could still inspire memorable movie quotes such as "You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought."

Thanks, and yes, after a few days of just looking at it (and NOT zooming it around the living room when no one was around) I think if I add anything it will be very minor and subtle.

I hope all that zooming around included at least a few laser "pew pews"!😉
The larger Hasbro one I'm "slowly" working on will include a built in mp3 player with a 6 inch sub with some custom sound bytes that i have remixed to include the engine noise some laser fire and the jump to hyperspace! 🙂
