I wanted to make the Comet in small scale, but the only options are the Milicast resin kit (expensive and hard to find) or the old Matchbox kit. I was delighted when Airfix released their new 1:76 Cromwell kit. What that allowed me to do was take to Cromwell and modify its hull and combine it with the turret, engine deck, and other bits from the Matchbox kit. I dressed it up with some resin and PE bits from Dan Taylor Modelworks. The gun barrel is an RB Models 17 pounder cut down to the same length as the Comet's 77mm. IN the photis the grey plastic is Airfix and the green Matchbox
