I can totally understand you're reaction, that was my initial reaction too. I'm a total sucker for big machines, so when I first read the pricetag sometime ago my excitement died a bit. But having seen the build kit at the smc, I was stunned by the size and level of detail of the kit. That and a some negotiation about the price made me change my mind 😉. Then again it's something unique and rare, that usually comes with a price tag.

You are absolutely right about the rareness. And wonderful things cost wonderful money - Not to mention how much work it was to develope! Maybe i can ask Santa to throw one into my chimney... 😉

My first experience with resin was a bad one. Luckily it was possible to fix the issue. Problem was that I ordered resin sidewinder missiles in 1:48 scale, and they weren't straight. I had to warm them up in hot water for a few seconds to straighten the parts out. So the parts would straighten themselves out. Still, thin sidewinder missiles might be one of the worst type of resin parts I suspect. Resin shrink too I think, maybe an issue with larger and thicker objects.

Btw, I have been looking for this barrel in 1:72 but I can't find any. The closest one is the barrel for the E-100, but which is more like a tank barrel, not a flak barrel, looking different.

Q: Is the carriage resin and the gun regular injection molded plastic?

@Treehugger: The carriage(the Grey parts on the build model) are resin, except for the barrel en some wire found in the kit. The cannon itself is the 12,8 cm Flak from Amusing Hobby's and is in plastic. It is sold separate from the resin kit (around 70€). It comes in combination with the FuMG 39D radar, a beautiful kit on its own. The metal barrel is from Shatton Modellbau and comes included in the resin kit, this company from Germany also offers al lot of rare barrels in 1/72 scale. You could try and contact them.
@Holger: If I happen to meet Santa I'll let him know 😉

Thanks for the tip Lenny. And good luck to Holger on his build. I got the Takom twin flak turret kit myself, for a rainy day, though I wish I had a flak tower model to go with it.

Album info
Just to show you the stunning details, I've planned this kit for the future. Beautifully casted resin, very crisp detail. Picture of build model is taken at the SMC Veldhoven where the kit was bought directly from the guys from Bolddivision.
