A pin wash would improve this model greatly I think. Some research would be required to make it work. Afaik one usually have an enamel wash over an acrylic gloss coat. Vallejo, who's products are afaik only acrylic based, also have acrylic based washes, but required care to blend with the underlying surface, unsure if reversible like with the "enamel-wash-over-acrylic-gloss-coat" where you can use some white spririt (odorless is nice) to wipe the wash off completely if needed. Afaik, diluting the wash would make the coloring weaker and perhaps more realistic as opposed to having black panel lines.
