My Devotion
I made this in the mid-90's, brush-painted using Humbrol enamels, (I know the green is now the wrong shade) - but, still I enjoy the faithfulness of my work at that time. I will repeat another B-17F for the "ye Olde Pub"/Franz Steigler project...perhaps I'll try Academy's?....
Master Brownings (with flash hiders for tail-end-Charlie) really improve the look and will likely stay on better than the plastic

I built this,(Hasegawa), one in the mid-1990's and have only recently added Air Master metal barrels for the 0.303's, as it'd been stored and damaged. It was brush painted and weathered, (it shows!), but I like its overall "feel"...., I'm still "practicing as a modeller", as indeed we all are- projects like this show where I've come from! Finally, many thanks for your comments!

Very nice "bird". I also have a Hasegawa kit "nose art". But I've replaced it with an Airfix one in my stash. But your work looks awesome. Congratulations👍.

Yes David, I think Airfix raised the bar with their recent B-17, but Hasegawa raised it from the old Airfix and Revell ones way back when!!

@ Charlie: sure have! It's a 'G…. The next B-17 I'll make will be the 'F of "Ye Olde Pub", Charlie Brown's badly damaged mount that Franz Stigler "escorted" -to accompany my previously built Bf-109G-6 of his….."one day!",(sighs)….

Good memories Andy! When I was a teen(in the 80s) I made a Zero, Me109, a Spitfire MkI and a Pucará among others. All painted with brush and enamels. (no weathering at all) . I lost them when I moved alone and then after a divorce!!haha. But those warriors where the seed of a late comeback 7 years ago. Glad to see that you saved that B-17!! cheers

Ah Micky! What divorce does to a model collection- my F-15/14/RF-4/PBY-5/B-29…..all lost in the landfill grave yard!! And, yes, we knew little of panel line washes, pre shading…..thanks for your comments too!!

Looks even more realistic with all that dust, no need to weather it anymore 😉

Ł, your humour is not lost on me!, and yes, I think dust should be a recognised art in weathering models!!

Patryk : one of my "in a land long, long, ago"….I would like to attempt another: that of "Ye Olde Pub" to go alongside Stigler's 109 G6

I hope You will do one in the future seeing what great job you did with an older kit.
