Blue? I was surprised........ but it looks so damn good! 😉

I wanted something different than silver, red or black. I orientated me at an old box by Revell, where the 300SL was showed in blue (Mercedes-Benz 300 SL (Revell 7132, 1:24)). So I took some blue. There were some people how said, that blue wasn't for the 300SL so I proofed the contrary.

At the beginning of the production Mercedes offered 10 colors *and* it was possible to order any color the customer wanted! If the costumer didn't tell the dealer any wish of the color, it came silver. At the end of the production 1 of 3 were silver painted. This is the typical picture of the 300SL the most people have in mind.

But: also at the end of the production Mercedes offered 49 different colors. 89% had "standard" colors and 11% had a special one - you can say one of a kind color. So it turned out, that there are 9 different blue unicolor and 3 metallic blue. As a sum they painted 69 SL in blue. 8 colors of the blue were painted only for one car.
