Bristol Sycamore German Air Force LC+105
first steps on the fuselage... cut out the place for the rescue hoist
the cover under which the winch is connected to the tubular frame, is in place
some problems with the bottom part. it´s much better to fill the middle part, than one side
there is a wrong engraved line...
... I´ve corrected it
the grid for the main-gearbox cooling intake is made of nice pe-parts
the roof windows are painted with Tamiya clear-orange
some PE work. The copper sheetmetal is very nice. It is easy to cut.
one of the Sycamores problems is, that you can´t use the rescue hoist spontaneous. The crew has to remove the blister-door under the winch. My model should be winch-ready, so I cut out the door. I took the HR.14 part with the normal door, because it´s much easier.
The pilot-seat (left) and the co-pilot seat (right). In SAR mission, the co-pilot turned the seat around and was able to winch the paramedic. The three frames are for the passenger-seats.
I don´t like the "Klappstühle" (folding chairs) from AMP. I made some of aluminium sheetmetal. I used the rivet wheel for the seams.
A bit paint and some drybrushing are the magic behind this step.
The blister-doors from AMP are not correct. I made a resin duplicate of the left-hand blister and made a vacu-mold of it.
In the kit there are clear parts for the "normal" rear door, too. I cut out the door. On the inner side of the blister, there is a metal frame with the hinghes and the lock mechanism. The frame is bent out of aluminium wire with 1,5mm diameter.

the interior in simple SAR config.
the mold for the vacu blister-door and the frame for it.

I restored this helicopter with the registration LC + 105 together with one of my best friends for a couple of old dogfaces of a museum. After that we were no longer of any use. This restoration was one of the most beautiful projects of my life. I dedicate this model project to my friend Dirk, whose father was a flight instructor at the Sycamore.

Great start David. Remarkable helo. Sorry to read your story of the museum, but no good deed goes unpunished, right?

Very colorful original: a seat please🙂
P.S: die Tür aus dem Klarsichtteil herausgesägt ohne das der Rest/Rahmen zu Bruch ging? Ein Kunststück & Hut ab. Ab nach Las Vegas!! 🙂

Sehr schöner Fortschritt, gefällt mir, was hast du denn für die Sitze genommen? Bleifolie oder Alufolie?

some Sycamore progress: the interior is assembled and painted. The crew need some seatbelts, now and the panel needs some details, too.

Sorry mates, I didn't have much time and I forgot to take photos of the progress. But now, the Sycamore is nearly ready.

Flawless finish! Orange always needs extra care. Not my favourite colour to work with. Right there with white and yellow 😄
