A-4F Skyhawk, VA-94 Mighty Shrikes
Comentarios
I recently start Hobby Boss latest release of Ed Heinemann's legendary Jet Bomber, A4 Skyhawk. The kit is well designed with nice details, fine engraved panel lines and an overall good fit. The basis for Hobby Boss F version with avionik hump ist the also new A-4E. The difference in between both versions is well designed with two single parts for the hump and a aditionall smaller part for the E version.
Even though the kit has a good fit there are some areas around the avionik hump and gap between fuselage and wings you have to fill and sand to get a good fit without any gap.
Unfortunately the designers missed it completely to add a typical feature of the Skyhawk, extended slats. Air brakes and landing flaps, features well known in the much older Fujimi kit are also missing. But at the moment the Hobby Boss kit is the only available E and F model on the market in scale 1/72! With some extra work and an parts from the Airfix A-4B kit all the features can be added. So no lets have a look.......
Cheers and Happy Easter
Christian
Checking IN, looking forward what crazy things you´ll shrink to 1/72 scale this time!😉
I'm glad to have you all around here 🙂
@Slavo, this time no crazy things this time, just a build with slight modifications and a display with just a part of the flight deck.
Cheers, Christian
A scooter is always worth a closer look, especially one with this address - checkin' in !
Da ist noch genug Platz Oliver. Aber viel Popcorn bereit halten, es dauer noch 😄
Paintwork is done. Now weathering, effects and decals 🙂
Happy Modelling, Christian
You're welcome Łukasz and Mirko 🙂
@Mirko, more or less OOB. Unfortunately Hobby Boss missed the option to add lowered slats. I modified the wing root and lend the slats from an Airfix Scooter. All in all it is a nice kit with sharp panel lines, but the older Fujimi kit is still today the better choice if you can get a hand on one of them.
Nice progress 👍
Thank you for explaining the features and differences between the E and F versions, and between Fujimi and HB.
Thank you all 🙂
Yes John, indeed they did. Not only military but also interesting civil aircraft. I much like their DC-5 design.
Slow pace, good stuff - very promising looking paint-job already with some lovely contrasts - and it can only get (even!) better from here 👍!
I hope so Slavo🙂 The rest of the colour modulation will be done with oils.
And I Want to know how much weights should be added in the head of the fuselage? Thanks
@Eureka, I did not put any weight in, because I will later glue the Scooter to the base. But I guess there is not enough space inside the noxe cone, so I suggest to add additional weight behind the cockpit tube.
@Thx Clifford, your kind comment is much appreciated 🙂
