Scalemates Mitsubishi A6M Zero Group build 2021
The subject of my build
Basic cockpit, but not much will be seen with the closed cockpit. Drilled some holes in the seat, and will add belts after painting.
Painted olive drab
Basic paint on the engines
Instruments from the kit decals
Cockpit weathered and Eduard seatbelts added
Wings and tailplanes fitted, just some hairlines to fill
Canopy masked, thank god for Eduard masks
Canopy fitted and about ready for paint🙂
Basic IJN grey applied
Cowling painted black, and given a blue hue with tensocrome
Yellow markings painted
Decals are printed out of register
Silly putty masks the hinumarus
Camouflage applied
Painted the wheelbays that great bluegreen colour, and added the position lights
Final decals added
Final decals added
Red lines painted, will sharpen them as soon as the Paint has set
Added the engine and cowling
First washes applied
Landing gear added
Green added to the spinner
Canopy mask removed
Done!

Tried to do some painting yesterday, but the airbrush kept clogging up. Gave it a good clean, and hope to get a second chance this weekend

Finally got some work done again, looking at 4 weeks off from work, starting now, so more progress is in the pipeline 🙂

Late war IJN/IJA aircraft are difficult to replicate their weathered appearance, even more difficult that Luftwaffe mottling in my opinion - great job.
