![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/7/0/2/1031702-66321-61-720.jpg)
The real tank this is a model of, photographed in 1947. Real-world location: what3words.com/refusal.patted.acid
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/4/1/2/1031412-66321-30-720.jpg)
Holes drilled in side plates for rods that carried spare track links.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/4/1/1/1031411-66321-57-720.jpg)
Assembled sponsons.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/4/1/3/1031413-66321-96-720.jpg)
Hull side.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/4/1/0/1031410-66321-96-720.jpg)
Turret with partial interior so there’s something to see through the open commander’s hatch.
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/4/1/4/1031414-66321-55-720.jpg)
Engine deck with replacement stays for hatches, because the plastic parts are very hard to clean up.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/4/1/5/1031415-66321-13-720.jpg)
Plastic card lip on hull, because rear mudguard was missing on the real tank.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/4/1/7/1031417-66321-32-720.jpg)
Hull rear with scratchbuilt empty smoke dischargers.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/4/1/6/1031416-66321-99-720.jpg)
Model primed white.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/4/2/0/1031420-66321-36-720.jpg)
Model painted SCC 2 brown overall.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/4/1/8/1031418-66321-69-720.jpg)
Stencil applied to box on turret stowage bin for the vehicle’s number. Stencil was made by removing perspective from a real photo in Photoshop, printing it out and cutting out the numbers.
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/4/1/9/1031419-66321-12-720.jpg)
Turret with spare track links and strips that hold them in place, still unpainted.
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/4/2/1/1031421-66321-96-720.jpg)
Markings applied.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/4/2/3/1031423-66321-56-720.jpg)
Markings on rear, including turret number after stencil was removed.
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/4/2/4/1031424-66321-68-720.jpg)
Track was not assembled to complete length, but only as long as needed outside the mudguards. Sewing thread pulls the ends tight …
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/4/2/5/1031425-66321-52-720.jpg)
… and the thread disappears under the mudguard. Same method was used on the other side.
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/4/2/7/1031427-66321-79-720.jpg)
Completed model from right front. Little girl is from MK35, with re-sculpted hair because Princess Leia wouldn’t have been standing on this tank ca. 1947.

The tank still needs to have the actual name applied, by the way. I had no good way to do that when I built the model, but Black Lion Decals has since released a set that includes it. All I need to do is apply it someday 🙂

You'll probably find another of my upcoming models even more disconcerting, then — it'll have a cat on the tank 🙂

Cattus domesticus or some less aggresive species - Panthera tigris althaica, for example?...;)
