Thanks Dylan, I appreciate that...this kit may be old but it's still one of the best Eagles on the market...good luck with the build. I'll following this build...👍!

Not much progress this last week I'm afraid. Came down with really bad flu (tested for covid and was negative) feeling better today!

Great start! I've got a question: is this Alclad II varnish odorless?

Thanks, István! No this varnish (ALC600) is not really odorless. But it is acrylic, so it's no where near as strong or as toxic as the lacquer varnishes by Alclad.

Your preshading looks really good, if the finish is in the same quality, this model must be perfect🙂

Dylan, are you building a late C version? The reason I'm asking that if I build mine with late nozzles, this suggests a late version with MSIP 2 upgrades or later. I've been told that all planes after 80s which were under the upgrade program, all their bay 5 areas (avionics bay behind the pilot) have been repainted in white/ light grey colors. I see you painted it in metallic blue like indicated in the instructions. Unfortunately, I can find any photo reference of the bay5 painted in white online to prove that. Thoughts? Maybe others can help with references please? Thanks

@karatel, to be honest, the reason I chose x-13 (per instructions) is because I thought it looked nice. In hindsight I suppose the real color would've been better. I could still change it. But the real color is more of a blue/green like you'd find here ([img1]). As for the paint scheme for the late C variants, I too could not find any reference for the white/grey or even chromate colors used.

@Dylan. Thank you for your reply. Yes, I've seen lots of pictures with this particular color. But people talk (including guys who actually worked with these birds I believe) that now the F-15c's bay5 are painted white/grey. I asked them for pictures. Will see if they can provide me with some references.

Took it a bit slow this week as I had some other projects on the go. Finished the decals on a nice quiet Sunday. Moving on to Satin coat then exhausts and weathering soon.

Decided I'm going to completely finish frame with weathering before doing exhausts (metals).
