That is one gorgeous Shagbat. I'll be following this with real interest.

Thanks. I finished it today. Hopefully have photos online tomorrow and an article in SAM later this year.

Pic 5 & 7. Jon: did you soldered the brass parts tougher? I suppose for better strength?
Pic 1: what kind of fluid is it in the injection syringe?
I looked at everything again in a quiet minute: great! I particularly like the dirty, used surface of the aluminum paint.
One half of the bulb is clear the other is colored! Very well researched. 🙂 🙂 🙂
If anything, I would only have a sole proposal for you for the wiring, which looks very fine on your model.
The airplanes of this time often had flat profiles instead of wires (metal rope). Have you already tried the flat profiles of SBS model?

Thank you again for your comments Bernhard!

The brass is soldered together where I can just because I hate using CA to stick PE together. Mainly for better strength.

The fluid in the syringe is flux. It's Nokorode Regular Paste Flux. It allows very precise application of the flux.

I know that the rigging is not very accurate. I don't rig aircraft very often (this was the second, and I've not done any since), so I want to get something neat to start with rather than accurate. Maybe in future I will do better!
