Bell 47G

Part PE additions just to get under way.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/9/5/3/1260953-69735-28-720.jpg)
Possibly the most complex bit of PE work I’ve done to date but really happy with it. Instrument panels held back for now.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/9/5/4/1260954-69735-78-720.jpg)
Tail boom PE on too.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/9/5/7/1260957-69735-14-720.jpg)
Not sure the seats were brown leather but given the texture and too hard to sand thought I’d try to make it look like well worn leather.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/9/5/5/1260955-69735-50-720.jpg)
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/9/5/8/1260958-69735-17-720.jpg)
Continue to try to improve with 1:72 pilots. Reasonably happy with this one.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/9/5/9/1260959-69735-13-720.jpg)
Seat belts added to co-pilot seat. I’ll add cutoff seatbelt bits to the pilot to buckle him up too.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/9/6/0/1260960-69735-37-720.jpg)
Some early test colours. Not working too hard here jus used RAF yellow and Red (with a touch of yellow). I used US Olive drab on the boom with some black added to darken it.

![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/9/6/3/1260963-69735-27-720.jpg)
Really happy with this bit. Some useful close up photos of Luftwaffe 47s shows the cabling through the boom which I have attempted to replicate to some extent.
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/9/4/0/1301940-69735-43-720.jpg)
Canopy on. It comes in three parts an inevitable difficult fit.
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/9/4/2/1301942-69735-11-720.jpg)
Gaps are not too bad though.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/9/4/1/1301941-69735-83-720.jpg)
We’re going to rescue this fella from the sea. Old moulding dreadful but he’ll be chest deep in the water so no worries.
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/9/4/3/1301943-69735-96-720.jpg)
Starting mini display base. Started with some Revell Plasto to make the basics.

![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/6/2/2/1406622-69735-93-720.jpg)
So I had my sailor in the seas ready for rescue before I saw a video on YouTube about making a rotor wash diorama. So I scrapped this and started again.
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/6/2/1/1406621-69735-70-720.jpg)
Kitchen towels soaked in hobby glue and water shaped and rolled to make waves.
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/6/2/3/1406623-69735-39-720.jpg)
Initial coat of italieri deep sea green and some white highlights for the wave tops
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/6/2/4/1406624-69735-84-720.jpg)
Then layers of AK transparent Water Gel in deliberate pattern outwards for wash effect.
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/6/2/5/1406625-69735-64-720.jpg)
Layers of blue tones and more AK Gel

Rescue now underway

Thanks Jivko. This was the Kit I was going to add to the Polar GB but just got sidetracked and missed it. Went full colour instead of polar white in the end. 🙂

Hajo 😄 I didn't even think of that, he was a pilot I just had lying around so he got used. As I was only doing this one for a bit of a break and some PE practice I don't mind too much. 👍

I noticed it immediately, because I have a lot of Jetpilots in my stash that I need to rework as helo-pilots when necessary... But great looking anyway! Maybe he´s on a high altitude mission in the Alps! 😉

Looks very good, following with great interest 👍
I have the same PE set lying around and am just waiting for Italeri to release the OH-13 Korean War version of that kit.

Thanks Mates. I'm a bit further on now just had to wait for the decals which weren't great. More photos to follow soonish.

So finally marking this as finished with my first real attempt at a dio/vignette(?). For a much better take on the rotor wash video I attempted to replicate, here is the YouTube link Youtube Video

Very good decision to discard the first dio-attempt. The one with the rotorwash is really special. Thanks for sharing the video.

Thanks both. Still not quite right but time to move on. In the video he explains that the glue/water mix should remove the towel print design but mine never seemed to. Guess it depends on the towel brand 😄 also the water effect he was using was more of a gel and so very malleable compared to the AK product I used. Anyway happy with it as a test bed, I have three Sunderlands in the stash so better get used to making water display bases.

Gary, that is indeed a great first attempt! I am also thinking of doing a water dio for the Sunderland....so will use your experience as an aspiration!
