Savoia S.21F (from "Porco Rosso"

This is FineMolds' 1:48 scale model of the fighter seaplane flown by fictional ace "Porco Rosso" (red pig) in the fantastic Studio Ghibli movie. This is as close to a perfect kit as I have ever come across: everything just clicks together really well, and there is no flash worth mentioning.

I added secondary struts to the inner side of the wing floats, which were made from fine hobby wire. This was the only thing missing from the model, based on my comparison with the movie.

This kit comes with detailed representations of Porco Rosso (aka Marco Pagot), Fio (the young aeronautical engineer, and future CEO of Piccolo SPA) and Gina (the owner of the Hotel Adriano, and Marco' unresolved romantic interest). It also has a great deal of internal details including the cockpit, fuel tank and the front compartment where Fio sits (on her travel bag, sharing the room with a machine gun).
