Dies war einer der ersten Panzermodelle die ich baute. Der Bausatz war nicht sehr gut. Zwar waren die Details ausreichend aber die Passgenauigkeit war eine Katastrophe. Vor allem die Vinylkette war soviel zu kurz, dass ich mir nicht anders zu helfen wusste, als mit einem Faden Ersatzkettenglieder (die ebenfalls aus Vinyl waren) einzunähen.
Eine Einzelgliederkette war keine Option, ich kannte sie noch nicht und der Preis wäre utopisch hoch für ein Modell gewesen. Ich musste mit meinem Taschengeld auskommen. Darum entschied ich mich auch gegen das Modell von Tamiya, obwohl ich wusste dass es qualitativ viel besser war.

Bemalt habe ich das komplette Modell mit Pinsel und Emailfarben von Revell. Die Grundfarbe ist die 47 "Mausgrau", die ich damals noch für eine standardmäßige Wehrmachtsfarbe hielt. (Sie sah ja auch so aus wie die Panzer bei Sudden Strike und Panzergeneral. Internet hatte ich da noch nicht.)
Es gibt kein Washing oder Weathering, diese Methoden kannte ich damals noch nicht.
Heute könnte sicher viel mehr noch aus dem recht günstigen Modell machen aber ich finde es stellt so schön die"Evolution des Könnens" dar.

This was one of the first tank models I built. The kit wasn't very good. The details were sufficient, but the accuracy of fit was a disaster. The vinyl chain in particular was so much too short that I didn't know what to do other than sew in replacement chain links (which were also made of vinyl) with thread.
A single link chain wasn't an option, I didn't know about it and the price would have been utopian for a model. I had to make do with my pocket money. That's why I decided against the Tamiya model, even though I knew that it was of much better quality.

I painted the entire model with a brush and enamel paints from Revell. The base color is 47 "Mausgrau", which I still thought was a standard Wehrmacht color at the time. (It also looked like the tanks in Sudden Strike and Panzer General. I didn't have the internet back then.)
There is no washing or weathering, I didn't know these methods back then.
Today, much more could certainly be made of the relatively inexpensive model, but I think it represents the "evolution of skill" so beautifully.
