This kit was the 1991 re-box of the 1966 vintage tooling.
Built out the box with some scratch built extras to liven the engine up, I also added a bit of old jewellery chain to the rescue ladder and replaced the original driver's left hand.
This was my first attempt at gloss paint and gloss clearcoat with an airbrush, for which I used Tamiya acrylics. Minor bits of weathering and oil/grease stains added with Citadel Miniatures 'Nuln Oil' and 'Agrax'. Fine dusting/grime on the tyres using Tamiya Weathering Powder (grey).
The crew were hand painted with Tamiya acrylics for uniform and equipment, with flesh tones using a mix of Citadel Miniatures.

Thank you! Certainly not a kit you can throw together over a weekend, but it was a great project to do. Makes you work on your basic model making skills, and keeps you on your toes for dry fitting and fettling... and it scrubs up into a really nice and unusual looking piece.
I've got quite a few WiP photos to add to the album, which I hope some folks will find interesting, if not useful when doing their own build 🙂
