This one is likely to be a quick little build. It's basically the companion piece to the Puss Moth, so I felt like I couldn't really build one without the other. Erik is right though, the kit is of an impressive vintage. It is indeed a few years older than I am, and has the flash to prove it. 🙂
Anyway, thanks for joining, there's plenty of seats available, so no shoving. 😉

IF however (regardless of how a real Hart should be) what is shown in the comic ("That's what I call" etc frame) is indeed a starboard mg (please correct me if I'm wrong...) then starting with a Demon kit was perhaps indeed a better idea than starting with a Hart kit.... IF this is the case... then you'll only have to deal with the rear seat/turret thing and the free (ala Fury) exhausts, no?

A couple of updates. The supports next to the fuselage were so weak that 3/4 of them snapped even before I got them off the sprue. So instead I just used some bent wire. The holes they are meant to slot into were gaping caverns as well, so a fair amount of putty was needed to make it at least slightly better. Now I'm left with a decision to make. The Hawker Demon has two large exhaust tubes that run from the engine down the sides. They're not present in the Tintin album (which most closely resembles a Hawker Heart I believe). So... do I leave the two side holes and the large trenches on either side of the engine cowling, or do I just shrug my shoulders and use the parts that came in the box?
The Blue Rider decals went on easily enough. They're a bit shiny, but I think I can deal with that.

Thanks Matthew. I'm quite pleased with how the colouring came out too. A 2:1 ratio of Tamiya Buff (XF-57) and Khaki (XF-49) seems to have done the trick... or at least close enough for me.

I just noticed the artwork has actual rigging on it, so it looks like I'm not quite as done as I thought. Besides that, only a few nice white fluffy clouds needed for the base.

Łukasz - the paint job comes courtesy of a 2:1 ratio of Tamiya Buff (XF-57) and Khaki (XF-49). I hadn't realized these were Danish markings though... that's very interesting. I'm going to do a bit of research about that.

Looks quite Danish to me, though at least one Polish airplane sported these before the checkerboard has been approved (1918).
Thx for the paint info.

the Danish flew with hawker nimrods between wwi and wwii but these had not the roundels on the fuselage but a large Danish flag on the tail, and of course no desert camouflage. I think Hergé must have known this.

I've been saying that I've been working on repairing/upgrading my Tintin model collection. I'm not quite finished (still 2-3 on the workbench), but I wanted to take a few pics of the new display now that it's coming together. I'm going to take some close-up pics once I finish off the last few.

Thanks guys! I used to have my Tintin collection in an IKEA glass display case, but it outgrew it (and adding extra shelves was partly to blame for having one fall and crush several of the models below it, and damage some of the other ones). At the moment, the only projects that are still "ghosts" (i.e. no figures) are:
- The BMW motorcycle and side-car (Soviets)
- the wooden canoe (Broken Ear)
- the ZIL limo and Land Rover (Picaros)
The Armoured car (Red Sea Sharks) requires no driver to be seen, but I did try to stick a small Tintin face (just eyes really) peeking out of the Bordurian tank (Calculus Affair), but I gave up... and even though I think I could get a prop motor in, I'm at a total loss as to how to insert a pilot into the Beechcraft Bonanza... I may have to redo that one eventually. I'm already planning on redoing the DHC Chipmunk (upgrade from the old Airfix kit to the nice AZModel kit that Robert sent me), so what's one more, right?

At the moment, on the workbench, I've got:
- The Mil-3 Helicopter (now with a spinning rotor and a pilot climbing in) (Picaros)
- The yellow Opel Olympia (Otokar's Sceptre), just waiting for a new 3D printed motorcycle to chase it.
- My yellow Tiger Moth (Black Island). This one bugs me... some of the struts broke and I seem to have lost them... do I just steal the needed parts from my other box, or do I rebuild it? Haven't decided, so it's still sitting.

As for new projects... I'm currently working on my Model T (Congo), but trying to decide if I want to include the little train as I first planned or just stick with the car itself. I've also got a half started Red Rackham pirate ship (using the HMS Bounty as a base for a kitbash). And LucLuke B - I've got a Soleil Royal kit that I plan to turn into the Unicorn! Oh, and currently in the 3D model building stage... the Carreidas 160 (Flight 714).
So, I think I'm gonna need a bigger shelf... 😉

Agree with everything said above. There are some amazing modellers on this forum and some truly inspirational dioramas but the elegance and imagination of this collection is a joy to behold every time. How many more can you extract from the source material is the question? 👍

Thanks guys. Looks like I'll have to update my Tintin shelf pictures soon. The Hawker Hart project I just posted was number 48, and I've got number 49 on the workbench underway... but I feel like I should do something special for Tintin Project 50. I've got some plans for some truly monumental projects... including the moon rocket, the Unicorn ship and Marlinspike Hall itself, but I'm not quite ready to tackle any of those. I have 3 thoughts in mind... I wonder which one I'll pick... 🙂

Thanks for your encouraging words, Gorby! ... It seems probable, taking into account that in some Mach 2 kits the material itself is "soapy"... 😄

A French prototype and a Mach 2 kit? Can't miss that... I see I'm late but a seat way back in the gallery must be still available...

What a party I've been missing, till now. Wishing you lots of perseverance, mate 👍
PS. Are you going to add the Broplan's Languedoc later on? 😄

Welcome, Łukasz. I've been waiting for you 🙂 I don't think so - not enough space, time, skills, and I am not sure if the kit is still available
Sud-Est S.E. 161 Languedoc (Broplan MS-146, 1:72)
BTW. On the photo you posted, there is the earlier of Monsieur Leduc's creations - model 010.

Got one of them from a shop in the Netherlands in unpronounceably named village near Schiphol, not sure they still offer them
Fingers crossed for your Mach2 endeavour 👍

Lucky you! So, perhaps you will assembly the Languedoc...and then we will join your forces, Łukasz? 😉

HA-- I had done this once (Leduc 021 | Album by jott (1:72)) and....OMG. Therefore I like the head-line of your album and... I done know how to put it: good that you take it with humor 😉

Robert, you're handling this brilliantly. I wish you continued success with the construction...
... and that your supply of putty and sandpaper lasts. 😄

Liking the internal modifications, very neat fine work. Each part is a kit in itself, with which to aim for perfection.... 🙂 👍

Excellent work on this kit. I hear Mach 2 kits are a huge let down, yet they are the only game around for certain subjects.
