Welcome to the show Alex and thanks very much. 🙂
The buildy bit is nearly complete so, as usual I'm playing catch-up with the report. Hopefully another update tomorrow. 🙂

Front row seat, on the bleachers, please Gorby. I wouldn't want to crane my neck to see!

Another build in the series "What's gorby up to now?" Be honest, though. The only reason you didn't have orange flares was that you couldn't get over the fence at the local airfield to steal a couple of windsocks!

That made me laugh John. 😄
Kesa: I like to buildodd looking vehicles some of which are converted from standard kits. I looooove scratch building.
Thanks both for tagging along. 🙂

Scale models can be converted? So like a F111 model could be fitted with a nuke even though the original model didnt have one?

Definitely Kesa, there is a whole range of aftermarket conversions you can buy or if you are feeling adventurous, some conversions are reasonably easy to scratch build yourself. I have a couple of drawers full of plastic sheet of various thickness and plastic and metal rods, tubes, strips etc. I once saw a fantastic large scale scratch build of a B17 build that used the plastic from yogurt pots as the skin.

Excellent!
I found a link to the B17 I mentioned. It shows what is possible:

Thanks David, that might have been the reason. 👍
Thanks Spanjaard. That B17 is one of the best scratch-builds I've ever seen - well beyond my ability. I think he sold it to a museum in the US.

Thomas, are you considering getting rid of the decal with my support perhaps? 😉

Łukasz, I am not going to use the provided decal sheet, so if you want it, just PM me with your address and I can post it.

(And for everybody else with knowledge about the different versions of the Yak-12, yes, I am aware of the differences between the A-version in the kit and the R-version used by the Hungarian People's Army. But since I am not able to scratch build the entire wing and empennage structure, let's just call it artistic license.)

Admiring your skills, and learning from your problem-solving, Thomas. Transforming an A-Model kit adds to the challenges 😉

Thank you Michael, Nicolas & Bruce for your interest and compliments! This kit is actually not quite as bad as some other Amodel kits I have built - the designers have created some pretty nifty solutions here! If anything, it is a bit unforgiving - make one small mistake and you can be sure that it will keep coming back to kick you.

Wunderbarer Modellbau. Ich hab das Modell auch noch liegen und genauso wollte ich es auch machen. Mal sehen, wenn ich groß bin. 😉

Yes Thomas, I don't think you get any easy builds from Amodel. But with some work you get a nice and rare model. I realy like your progress. 👍

Bruce, Lukasz, Cuajete, Nicolas, thank you! Yes, Amodel is actually cool in that they take a chance to make models outside the ordinary. Who else would design a model kit of a strange and ugly little high-winged Soviet aircraft instead of another Stuka, Tomcat or a Spitfire?

Roland thank you mate! Cuajete, yes, this is the best gloss coat I have ever tried. It levels out to an absolute mirror shine (at least if it is applied to a perfectly smooth paint layer). This model ended up with a bit of orange peel effect at some places, so it is not absolutely perfect, but I can get away with it.

Hereby I declare the project finished! Quite a fast progress for me, only three weeks from start to finish. It may not be the best model I have ever built - there are too many silly or clumsy mistakes here and there - but it was great fun! More photos will come!

Cool! I was wondering how all the extra parts in mine looked when done, very nice. 👍
If you will accept a bit of advice, when you complete the cabin "shell" that goes into the fuselage halves, be prepared to do a lot of trimming and fitting before closing up. On mine, the sides of the fuselage wanted to push the roof of the cabin down and also hit the edges of the windscreen opening and that left a big gap on top. I finally got it acceptable fit, but even then, I wish I had cut more away because the cabin roof does not quite fit flush.

Thanks for the advice. I'll take care of it 🙂
I build a lot of Revell kits in the past and the fitting was different with every model. I have got everything between pretty good and horrible. It's always like a mysterious box.

I'm sure you will do well with all that Revell experience. 👍 The good news is that other than the cabin shell, the rest fits OK (ish) even the windscreens. But if you want doors closed, also be prepared to do some surgery on them.

Looking good indeed! How did (or will) you paint the inside of the air intakes?
John is right with his comment, the cabine ceiling is a problem. I decided to keep the pilot door frames on the inside out for the moment. Without them the fitting seems to be quite good.

Thanks Andre! I already painted the air intakes with my airbrush. Now I will mask everything off so the paint is save for the yellow.

Neat assembly and good painting. But again the same mistake: the front part of the cab glazing should not be painted. In my albums, I specially posted photos of this part
