Hm, I thought I had a ZTZ-99 kit, but apparenlty I have the HobbyBoss' ZTZ-96. I wonder what the difference is between the 99 and the 96 are.

Hi Treehugger. As far as I know, ZTZ-99 is a heavy MBT with more capibility and 96 is a lighter, smaller and cheaper one. Imagine the position of F-15 & F-16 in U.S Airforce.

Super clean! Love the digital camo, did you "simply" used masking+airbrushing? And is that holographic film for the optics?

Thank you, miniova. Yes, it's masking+airbrushing. I use the pre-cut masking from Galaxy Model. It makes the process lots easier. No, it's not a holographic thing.

Hello Xu Ho. Witch one is better kit: Border or HB?
Mainly in accuracy of copying a real prototype and detail?
Maybe you would like to add more information from yourself?

Great job and cool display! I´ve made the ZLC2000 in digital camo some time ago and understand the effort you have made there 🤝

Hi Slava Halzov, In terms of detail and accuracy, Border's kit is superior. HB's kit is simpler, with fewer parts, allowing for faster assembly. Both brands have good compatibility. However, there are a few minor issues to watch out for. Border's manual contains an error where the handle on the front storage box is labeled with the wrong number. Additionally, Border made a mistake with the gun magazine's photo-etched parts, which should be two mirror-image pieces but were made exactly the same. The frontmost armor on the tank turret requires scribing yourself, likely due to limitations in their molding process(same problem with HB). As for HB, it is reportedly slightly larger than the real vehicle. When placed next to Border's kit, the hull and canon are noticeably a bit longer, and the turret's angle is slightly different as well. Overall, unless you're highly detail-oriented, both brands are fine. But if you have the time and energy, Border offers a higher potential ceiling.
