Area-88 Saab J35 Draken
![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/7/5/6/1697756-72957-12-720.jpg)
I'm building this Hasegawa's kit simultaneously with MikroMir's kit. Left cockpit is Hasegawa's.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/7/5/7/1697757-72957-86-720.jpg)
I added seatbelts that are made from aluminium foil.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/7/5/5/1697755-72957-89-720.jpg)
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/7/5/8/1697758-72957-62-720.jpg)
Tail cone had some gabs that are filled with plastic sheets.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/7/5/9/1697759-72957-52-720.jpg)
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/7/6/0/1697760-72957-61-720.jpg)
Fixing wing seam lines.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/7/6/1/1697761-72957-69-720.jpg)
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/7/6/2/1697762-72957-76-720.jpg)
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/7/6/3/1697763-72957-83-720.jpg)
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/7/6/4/1697764-72957-77-720.jpg)
I hurried a bit with canopy.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/4/5/1/1700451-72957-90-720.jpg)
Rudder being prepared. Upper pitot tube needs a tiny hole
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/4/5/0/1700450-72957-61-720.jpg)
0,2mm brass rod as pitot tube.
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/4/4/9/1700449-72957-66-720.jpg)
Some vent carving.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/4/5/2/1700452-72957-55-720.jpg)
Fastly added rear lights.
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/4/5/3/1700453-72957-96-720.jpg)
Shin Kazama's Draken was built from Finnish frames, so this ADF antenna panel didn't have panel line in the middle.
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/4/3/8/1701438-72957-92-720.jpg)
First light primer (Mr.Surfacer white 1500) and some problem parts fixed with the same primer added with a brush.
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/4/3/7/1701437-72957-60-720.jpg)
I got an inspiration and wanted to improve navigation lights.
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/4/3/9/1701439-72957-26-720.jpg)
I had UV-cured nail polisher and Derwent Intense colour pencils.
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/4/4/0/1701440-72957-10-720.jpg)
Clear tape to keep the liquid stuff in intended place and it lets UV-light through.
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/4/4/1/1701441-72957-50-720.jpg)
Then just cleaning residues, sanding and polishing.
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/4/4/2/1701442-72957-67-720.jpg)
Similarly to left side.
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/4/4/3/1701443-72957-14-720.jpg)
More details!
![Album image #23 Album image #23](/albums/img/4/4/4/1701444-72957-46-720.jpg)
![Album image #24 Album image #24](/albums/img/4/4/5/1701445-72957-81-720.jpg)
Air scoop comparison: from left Quickboost (copied from Hasegawa but opened inlet hole and made of resin), Hasegawa and MikroMir.
![Album image #25 Album image #25](/albums/img/4/4/6/1701446-72957-20-720.jpg)
MikroMir's IRST was a disappointment. It has a clear part and one PE-part, but the body of the IRST is too bulky and lacks panel lines. But I could use it to improve the Hasegawa's IRST.
![Album image #26 Album image #26](/albums/img/4/4/7/1701447-72957-54-720.jpg)
Improved IRST in place
![Album image #27 Album image #27](/albums/img/4/4/8/1701448-72957-55-720.jpg)
I had to drill a hole to the nose for Maestro Models' brass pitot tube. The fit is now so good that I could add the pitot tube after painting and everything.
![Album image #28 Album image #28](/albums/img/4/4/9/1701449-72957-46-720.jpg)
More details added and the Draken is ready for painting camo.
![Album image #29 Album image #29](/albums/img/1/0/7/1703107-72957-35-720.jpg)
Preshading done.
![Album image #30 Album image #30](/albums/img/1/0/8/1703108-72957-15-720.jpg)
camo ongoing. I'm using A.MIG Middlestone FS33531
![Album image #31 Album image #31](/albums/img/6/5/4/1703654-72957-49-720.jpg)
Camo airbrushed freehand along pencil drawn lines. Darker brown is Vallejo Air's 71.125 USAF Brown FS30219
![Album image #32 Album image #32](/albums/img/6/5/2/1703652-72957-50-720.jpg)
Some nasty overspray...
![Album image #33 Album image #33](/albums/img/6/5/3/1703653-72957-76-720.jpg)
Few spiders... Needs some fixing. Also A.MIG's paint is shiny but Vallejo's is matt. This doesn't matter much because varnish will even those.
![Album image #34 Album image #34](/albums/img/6/6/8/1706668-72957-19-720.jpg)
![Album image #35 Album image #35](/albums/img/6/6/6/1706666-72957-33-720.jpg)
Air intakes painted by hand.

![Album image #37 Album image #37](/albums/img/6/6/9/1706669-72957-16-720.jpg)
![Album image #38 Album image #38](/albums/img/6/7/0/1706670-72957-14-720.jpg)
I think painting is mostly done.
![Album image #39 Album image #39](/albums/img/6/7/1/1706671-72957-17-720.jpg)
![Album image #40 Album image #40](/albums/img/3/9/3/1708393-72957-43-720.jpg)
All decals applied
![Album image #41 Album image #41](/albums/img/4/2/7/1746427-72957-91-720.jpg)
Wash applied. I finally decided to try mix a suitable wash color mixing panel liners and oil colors.
![Album image #42 Album image #42](/albums/img/4/2/5/1746425-72957-40-720.jpg)
Maestro's pitot tube glued into a sprue with basic thin cement.
![Album image #43 Album image #43](/albums/img/4/2/6/1746426-72957-86-720.jpg)
Pitot tube painted. Now I see the radome's failed masking (⋟﹏⋞)
![Album image #44 Album image #44](/albums/img/4/2/8/1746428-72957-75-720.jpg)
![Album image #45 Album image #45](/albums/img/4/2/9/1746429-72957-53-720.jpg)
Satin varnish applied and masking removed from the canopy.
![Album image #46 Album image #46](/albums/img/8/7/9/1746879-72957-55-720.jpg)
Left one is a Falcon missile from MikroMir kit. The right one is RB27 AIM-26B Falcon by Maestro Models.
![Album image #47 Album image #47](/albums/img/8/8/0/1746880-72957-25-720.jpg)
Missiles placed with Micro Liquitape. Landing gear doors are hold in place with blue tack.
![Album image #48 Album image #48](/albums/img/6/8/6/1749686-72957-56-720.jpg)
My hastily done setup.
![Album image #49 Album image #49](/albums/img/6/8/5/1749685-72957-77-720.jpg)
MiG-23 has a flashy finale 😄
![Album image #50 Album image #50](/albums/img/6/8/2/1749682-72957-91-720.jpg)
I had enough Gundam Action Bases for this kind of use. The background is just a TV screen showing Google Earth landscape.
![Album image #51 Album image #51](/albums/img/6/8/3/1749683-72957-10-720.png)
Next my photos need some heavy editing. I'm using paint.net for this.
![Album image #52 Album image #52](/albums/img/6/8/4/1749684-72957-46-720.png)
Maybe a bit cartoonish, but lets see, when I get all the action pfotos edited. For these setting I had made one KP's MiG-23 for adversary.
![Album image #53 Album image #53](/albums/img/3/5/7/1751357-72957-97-720.jpg)
Front wheel ready.
![Album image #54 Album image #54](/albums/img/3/5/8/1751358-72957-88-720.jpg)
Some 0,2mm lead added to the main landing gear.
![Album image #55 Album image #55](/albums/img/3/5/9/1751359-72957-30-720.jpg)
The landing gear fit nicely.
![Album image #56 Album image #56](/albums/img/4/2/2/1752422-72957-30-720.jpg)
ex tempore need for a revetment for more action photos that need editing later.
![Album image #57 Album image #57](/albums/img/4/1/0/1752410-72957-80-720.jpg)
Photoshoot ongoing.
![Album image #58 Album image #58](/albums/img/4/0/8/1752408-72957-28-720.jpg)
Also some basic photos of the finished model.

Shaping up nicely! Let me join the spectator crowd! Even though I prefer the Swedish Air Force version myself. 😉

This have progressed faster than my MikroMir kit, but they are nicely supporting each other.

Thanks Robert and Mr! Now the model is missing just the missiles and landing gears. Before that I want to make some silly photos of it.

I staged some action photos that will take some time to edit. Next I could finish the model by making the landing gear.
