Fairey Swordfish Mk I - Attack on Bismark

As model cockpit is incomplete and do not show the navigator's seat (you have to cut the navigators's seatcover in the two fuselage halves), a full section of .4 mm plasticard is added prolonging the floor to the tail área. Also, a thinner plasticard element is added to the upper part for the MG rest área.
Two ellipsoid elements mark the end of the cockpit and the separation from pilot's área. 

 

The same approach of navigator's and tailgunner's area is applyed to pilot's. A surplus joystick is added as the model lacks of any. This one is a roundel type, as all main British Fighters of the era and as shown by original Fairey Aeroplane photos of the 30's and 40's, photos also useful for the purpose of building an instrument panel.
Different plasticard element are used for the separation of navigator and gunner áreas. As seen in Australian survivor Swordfish, this plane has a thin metallic element all around seats in he shape of an exagon now is trying to be replicated.
Beside navigator's left leg is a big fuse box and in front of the gunner, below the MG, there is a table with a big radio set. 

 

This part, made of plasticard Will do the part of pilot's instrument panel. No good photos of survivong examples available, only those made by Fairey Aeroplane and Royal Navy documental services. As the instrument panel is recessed from the end of the upper part of the cockpit, this one Will do the job after some painting and varnish.
Remember that metallic parts on Swordfish interior are mainly Green, while floor is ainky dark grey. Wooden parts seems to be treated with some kind of dark varnish (mabe some type of oil-based marine-spect varnish of the epoch).
